Last night on FOX, Tucker Carlson made a comment that really troubled me.  He said, and I quote "Our Power Is In Our Diversity."  I find that statement, not only bothersome but false by Conservative standards.  Diversity does not empower the Republic, or any other nation of organization for that matter.  America is not powerful because it's divided, it's powerful because it's united.  The very first word in this Republic's name is "United", is it not?  Have we somehow evolved over the past 242 years since our founding?  When did the United States of America become the Divided (diverse) States of America?  It appears the Left has been hammering the word "diversity" for so long that even many Conservatives are beginning to think that there is something good in being diverse and not so much in being united.  Our Republic's national motto is "E Pluribus Unum"  "Out of many one, is it not?"  Or is it now, "Out of one, many"?   Are America's higher schools of education not called Universities?

I believe our journalists and talk show hosts are in dire need of some remedial education in the etymology of the English language.  The prefix Uni, gives glue to the rest of the word, it in essence means united.  The prefix Div,  gives glue to the rest of the word, it, in essence means divided.

Adages from our past should tell us that united is good, divided, not so much.  "United we stand, divided we fall."  Or how about "There is strength in numbers, we must remain united."   Or, "to win, we must divide and then conquer the enemy."

Interjecting the word "Diversity" wherever the word should be "United" is a Leftist ploy that continues to divide the enemy and the enemy for all intents and purposes to the Leftists are "We the People of the United States of America".

It is imperative that Constitutional Conservatives use the correct words to explain America and it's principles and not use the words that are repeatedly drummed into society by the Left.  America did not become the unique Republic that it is by staying or being diverse.  America is unique in it's very nature because we are united.

Jerome, I completely agree.  I once asked a college student why the focus was on ‘diversity’ and not ‘unity.’  An interesting discussion ensued, and I hope she left thinking about it.  You said do well, and I sent the link on to Candace Owens. I do hope she reads it!

Good points Jerome. Diversity isn't what makes us strong, it's having a common culture with shared values and beliefs. There was far less divisiveness when we considered ourselves a melting pot nation.

Diversity without discernment is dangerous.

JG, thanks for passing this on to Candace Owens,  Watchman, you are correct we were unified by the different ethnicities and cultures that were intent on becoming unified to be American, as you said a melting pot.  There is way too much emphasis on separating culture than melding them to one strong ideal.  Doug, great point! Discernment without moral compass leads to the same anarchy and chaos that the Left intends.

I appreciate the comments from everyone, thanks!

I understand your point.

But, consider this: If all of our states were the same, there would be no need to unite them under a single government which we call the United States of America -- it might instead be called the American State.  Our States have common facets of culture, common facets of religion, common facets of terrain, common facets of language and common heritage among people living in each of the states.  Just because our states have some commonalities does not imply that they are all the same.  They are in fact a diverse group of socially, politically, geographically, racially, and religiously different States with some common characteristics.

What we have had missing in our discourse during the past several decades is the emphasis on the common characteristics -- what unites us and allows us to call ourselves the United States of America.

What HAS received emphasis are the differences which divide us: especially, socially, religiously, and politically. This is used as a wedge to convince those who are informationally challenged that the USA is a defective place, a bad place, a place that deserves no respect and a place that needs to be redesigned.

The commonality of who we are as citizens of the United States of America -- the thing that unifies us -- is a sound individual belief the collection of principles contained in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of the United States of America.  The rest is just the richness of life as we struggle to understand how to apply the principles in which we believe.

btw JG  --  thanks for posting the note about this blog.  For some reason I was not and have not been notified about blog posts for a long time.

I believe that's what I said.

Our power as the United States of America will and can never be rooted in "diversity".  Diversity means divide and Unity as in United States means simply that "united".
