President Donald Trump ordered airstrikes in response to the chemical weapons attack Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad

On Thursday, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said “steps are under way” to form an international coalition to remove the president of Syria Bashar al-Assad after Tuesday’s chemical bombings in Syria.

Partial transcript as follows:

TILLERSON: Well obviously, the events that have occurred in Syria with the chemical weapons attack here in the past day I think have just horrified all of us and brought to the front pages and to our television screens as well the tragedy that is part of the Syrian conflict. There is no doubt in our mind and the information we have supports that Syria, the Syrian regime under the leadership of Bashar al-Assad are responsible for this attack and I think further it’s very important that the Russian government consider carefully their continued support for the Assad regime.

REPORTER: Does Assad have to go?

TILLERSON: Assad’s role in the future is uncertain and with the acts that he has taken, it would seem that there would be no role for him to govern the Syrian people.

REPORTER: And what steps is the United States prepared to take in order to remove him from power?

TILLERSON: The process by which Assad would leave I think requires an international community effort, both to first defeat ISIS within Syria, to stabilize the Syrian country, to avoid further civil war and then to work collectively with our partners around the world through a political process that would lead to Assad leaving.

REPORTER: So will you and President Trump organize an international coalition to remove Assad?

TILLERSON: Those steps are under way.

REPORTER: Has President Trump been talking about that with other leaders.

TILLERSON:  We are considering an appropriate response which violates all previous U.N. resolutions, violates international norms and long-held agreements between parties including the Syrian regime, the Russian government and all other members of the U.N. Security Council. It’s a serious matter. It requires a serious response. Thank you.

Did Russia Try To Cover-Up Syrian Gas Attack?

The United States is launching a probe in to whether the Russian military was directly involved or complicit in a deadly nerve-gas attack in Syria earlier in the week, reports Time magazine.

Senior US military officials are investigating whether a Russian aircraft intentionally bombed a hospital where victims were being treated hours after the nerve-gas attack, in an attempt to destroy evidence of the war-crime.

Officials -who remain anonymous while they review the new intelligence- believe Russia has failed to successfully control the Syrian regime’s stockpile of chemical weapons and aimed to hide the massacre from public view.

Russia denies any gas attack ever occurred, saying the deaths were caused by the Syrian air force blowing up a rebel-occupied chemical weapons plant.

The Syrian regime also maintains it has never used chemical weapons.

DO NOT know if this is true or not. I will say that this info from Mike Cernovich has me concerned. Reason being, this is the same man that was ahead of everyone on the Susan Rice issue. Also, he was the first one I saw saying that we were going to hit Syria and said it would be later in the day that we DID hit them with Tomohawks. Now, THIS!

BREAKING REPORT – Petraeus Working Behind the Scenes With McMaster to Put Troops on the Ground in Syria

Via Mike Cernovich:

McMaster is plotting how to sell a massive ground war in Syria to President Trump with the help of disgraced former CIA director and convicted criminal David Petraeus, who mishandled classified information by sharing documents with his mistress.

As NSA, McMaster’s job is to synthesize intellience reports from all other agencies. President Trump is being given an inncurate picture of the situation in Syria, as McMaster is seeking to involve the U.S. in a full scale war in Syria.

The McMaster-Petraeus plan calls for 150,000 American ground troops in Syria.

Many special operations veterans including General Joseph Votel have raised serious concerns about McMaster’s plans for Syria.

Sources also suggest that McMaster is sharing classified information with Petraeus, whose security clearance was revoked.

Cernovich points out that Petraeus’ influence in the NSC remains strong:

McMaster was called Petraeus’ golden child by some commenters, noting the strong influence Petraeus had over McMaster. Petraeus was considered for the position of NSA, but withdrew his name from consideration once McMaster’s name was included on the short-list. McMaster’s appointment allowed Petraeus to maintain control over the NSC without bringing his considerable baggage to the position.

Derek Harvey, the top Middle East adviser in the NSC, has close ties with Petraeus and is close with McMaster. (Harvey reportedly faces a massive EEO complaint from subordinates, although that investigation remains open.)

Harvey and McMaster have been trying to subvert Joint Chiefs Chairman General Joseph Dunford and Secretary of Defense James Mattis. Mattis and Dunford support working with our allies in the fight against ISIS. Harvey and McMaster are advocating for a massive American-only ground force.

About Flynn and Bannon:

Two men were standing in between another U.S.-led war in the Middle East and McMaster — General Mike Flynn and Steve Bannon.

Flynn was removed after Susan Rice unmasked classified information concerning him. Bannon’s role within the White House was weakened by McMaster, who demanded Bannon be removed from his advisory position at NSC.

McMaster’s friends in the media, as part of a broader strategy to increase McMaster’s power, have claimed Jared Kushner and Bannon had a major falling out. In fact Kushner and Bannon are united in their opposition to McMaster’s plan.

If McMaster and Petraeus have their way, America will find itself in another massive war in the Middle East.

Given the young age of this presidency, this is definitely worth watching.  The players are not necessarily the NAMES themselves but the lobbyists that infect Washington.  It is difficult to tell who they really represent on any given day.

I hope we aren't going in there again, beyond finishing what obama screwed up. I believe it is entirely possible that SoS Tillerson convinces Russia to handle a regime change there, and make sure it's one that acceptable to us.

Official: Russia knew Syrian chemical attack was coming

WASHINGTON (AP) — The United States has concluded Russia knew in advance of Syria's chemical weapons attack last week, a senior U.S. official said Monday.

The official said a drone operated by Russians was flying over a hospital as victims of the attack were rushing to get treatment. Hours after the drone left, a Russian-made fighter jet bombed the hospital in what American officials believe was an attempt to cover up the usage of chemical weapons.

The senior official said the U.S. has no proof of Russian involvement in the actual chemical attack in northern Syria.

But the official said the presence of the surveillance drone over the hospital couldn't have been a coincidence, and that Russia must have known the chemical weapons attack was coming and that victims were seeking treatment.

The official, who wasn't authorized to speak publicly on intelligence matters and demanded anonymity, didn't give precise timing for when the drone was in the area, where more than 80 people were killed. The official also didn't provide details for the military and intelligence information that form the basis of what the Pentagon now believes.

Another U.S. official cautioned that no final American determination has been made that Russia knew ahead of time that chemical weapons would be used. That official wasn't authorized to speak about internal administration deliberations and spoke on condition of anonymity.

The allegation of Russian foreknowledge is grave, even by the standards of the currently dismal U.S.-Russian relations.

Although Russia has steadfastly supported Syrian President Bashar Assad's government, and they've coordinated military attacks together, Washington has never previously accused Moscow of complicity in any attack that involved the gassing of innocent civilians, including children. The former Cold War foes even worked together in 2013 to remove and destroy more than 1,300 tons of Syrian chemical weapons and agents.

Until Monday, U.S. officials had said they weren't sure whether Russia or Syria operated the drone. The official said the U.S. is now convinced Russia controlled the drone. The official said it still isn't clear who was flying the jet that bombed the hospital, because the Syrians also fly Russian-made aircraft.

U.S. officials previously have said Russians routinely work with Syrians at the Shayrat air base where the attack is supposed to have originated. U.S. officials say the chemical weapons were stored there and that those elements add to the conclusion that Russia was complicit in the attack.

Last Thursday 59 Tomahawk missiles were fired on the government-controlled base in the United States' first direct military action against Assad's forces.

The U.S. has been focusing its military action in Syria on defeating the Islamic State group.

On Monday, Col. John J. Thomas, a U.S. military spokesman, said the U.S. has taken extra defensive precautions in Syria in case of possible retaliation against American forces for the cruise missile attack.

Thomas told reporters at the Pentagon that the increased emphasis on defensive measures to protect U.S. troops on the ground in Syria led to a slight and temporary decline in offensive U.S. airstrikes against IS in Syria.

There has been no Syrian retaliation so far for the cruise missile attack, which destroyed or rendered inoperable more than 20 Syria air force planes, he said.

Thomas said the U.S. intends to return to full offensive air operations against IS as soon as possible.

So, The Obama Administration Knew Syria Didn’t Hand Over All Its Chemical Weapons, But Lied To Us Anyway?

Apparently, even as the Obama administration and its allies were peddling the notion that “100 percent” of Syria’s chemical weapons stockpiles were removed and destroyed, some officials now admit that they knew some were still left in the country, as evidenced by the latest attack (via Washington Examiner) [emphasis mine]:

A former Obama official acknowledged Sunday that the U.S. "always knew" an agreement with Syrian President Bashar Assad did not clear all chemical weapons out of Syria, despite the fact that the administration touted the deal as an unequivocal success at the time.

"We always knew we had not gotten everything, that the Syrians had not been fully forthcoming in their declaration," Tony Blinken, a former deputy secretary of state and former deputy national security adviser under Barack Obama, told the New York Times.

John Kerry, then Obama's secretary of state, and Susan Rice, Obama's national security adviser, had both touted a 2013 agreement with Russia, Syria and the U.S. that was designed to rid the Assad regime of its chemical weapons stockpile. Kerry said in 2014 that they deal had resulted in Syria purging "100 percent" of its chemical agents.

So, while Kerry, the then-face of American foreign policy and our chief diplomat said that the stockpile had been removed, his deputy admits that they knew that wasn’t the case. In keeping with the administration’s record post-Benghazi, is this another lie from the Obama administration? It’s not the first time. We all remember when then-UN Ambassador Susan Rice, who eventually became national security adviser to Obama, said that the Benghazi attack was a spontaneous reaction to an offensive YouTube video. It was eventually found out to be a well-planned terrorist attack by al-Qaeda affiliates, which the administration knew hours after the assault. Now, U.S. intelligence agencies say that Assad may not have turned over all his weapons. Gee—you think!

For God’s sake, only a member of the Neville Chamberlain School Of Foreign Affairs would think this agreement would be, you know, actually honored by a dictator. And Assad is a dictator. We also did this in tandem with the Russians, now public enemy number one, who had invaded and annexed Crimea from Ukraine that same year. The Obama administration called the action an “uncontested arrival,” and said the action was done out of weakness. Can we cue the laugh track?

It seems that even Obama officials knew this Syrian chemical weapons disarmament wasn’t going to be fully complied with, but went on television stating otherwise.

We got “100 percent” of the chemical weapons out they said.

"We always knew we had not gotten everything, that the Syrians had not been fully forthcoming in their declaration," they said.
