~ Where the Sun Will Never Set on Our liberty ~
I thought I would post these pictures that have been sent to me from around the area. This storm was the strongest storm I have ever lived through. I am very thankful I had no flooding and my house held up pretty well. I live just offshore from Ocean City NJ. All of our shore towns have been destroyed. The damage is astronomical. Add pictures to this is you like.

Goober I haven't lost power. I've been busy trying to put all my breakables back where they belong, fighting with my friend to convince her to stay here till she gets her power back (called her out of state daughters last night and they got on her case) and also putting up the winter village for Christmas. I want to get everything done early this year so I can relax and enjoy my baking.
I can't believe the pictures it's horrific! Even Jersey City on top of the plaisades is without power- Downtown JC is under water.
Thanks Goobs, We only fared well because we live offshore. Only a few miles offshore, but just enough. We did lose power but no damage to our house. The devastation down here is astronimical though. Heartbreaking! Ruthie is ok. I talked to her a few times through it. Will check on her again today.
I lived in Florida for 6 years and have lived in SC for 37. I have been through and seen my share of hurricane destruction. I even went through terrific winds for 3 days and one night of no power from Sandy. I must say that nothing prepared me for the destruction I saw when I woke up and turned on the TV Tuesday morning. Robin, I am glad to hear you are safe. I cannot wrap my mind around the destruction and cannot believe that the death toll is as low as it. God was good to the population if not the property! Perhaps they heeded the warnings better than they do in Florida and SC!
Amazing pictures, Robin! Glad you are ok!
Blessing to all who are going to have go in and re-build after all of this. We humans are pretty resillient though! Awesome pics...
I guess each area of the country has things to worry about - Hurricanes off East Coast and South-Eastern Coast, Earthquakes out west, fires out west, tornadoes in the middle. There are some days though that I wonder if the East Coast gets more than its share with hurricanes and sharks. I am now West Coast. Where I live in South CA most earthquakes are table conversation such as "did you feel it?" - and half the people say no they did not. We do worry about fires. That is likely why the houses near me are almost always out of stucco and have real tile roofs. We do get sharks here, but it seems not as often as East Coast. I think I heard the gulf side of Florida facing Georgia is the worst. But then again, our sharks are happier since Hollywood gives them movie roles such as "Jaws 32" and the like.
