Republican National Committee Poll: GOP in Danger Due to Complacent Trump Voters

Via The Hill

A leaked survey conducted for the Republican National Committee (RNC) found that a majority of President Trump’s supporters don’t believe that Democrats have a chance to win back the House during November’s midterm elections.

Bloomberg Business on Tuesday published the survey, completed by Public Opinion Strategies polling firm on Sept. 2.

The results are likely to augment GOP fears about Trump's base not showing up for the midterms, when the president himself will not be on the ballot but House and Senate majorities are in play.

U.S. Weekly Jobless Claims Drop to 49-Year Low

Via Reuters

The number of Americans filing new claims for unemployment aid fell to near a 49-year low last week and private payrolls rose steadily in August, pointing to sustained labor market strength that should continue to underpin economic growth.

“The economy is in overdrive with jobless claims at lows not seen since the 1960s, and this gives the Fed the green light to raise interest rates later this month and take away some of the economy’s punch,” said Chris Rupkey, chief economist at MUFG in New York.

Economists say given labor market tightness, employers were reluctant to lay off workers. The labor market is viewed as being near or at full employment.

Generic Drugs Would Hit Market Faster Under CREATES Act and Save Over $3 Billion, Says CBO

Via The Hill

Lower-price drugs would hit the market faster under a bipartisan bill awaiting a vote in the Senate, according to a score released Wednesday by the Congressional Budget Office and the Joint Committee on Taxation. "CBO expects that the bill’s provisions would allow generic drugs ... to enter the market earlier, on average, than they would under current law," authors of the report concluded.

The legislation, known as the CREATES Act, passed the Senate Judiciary Committee in June but hasn't yet been scheduled for a vote on the floor. CBO estimates that it would reduce spending by $3.3 billion from 2019 to 2028, mostly through the Medicare and Medicaid programs spending less on prescription drugs.

The bill goes after a practice brand-name drugmakers use to block generic companies from making cheaper copies. To make cheaper medicines, generic drugmakers need thousands of copies of the brand-name product to run tests against their own version to gain FDA approval. Certain brand-name drugmakers, however, deny the request for the samples, pointing to safety programs that are designed to protect consumers.

When Disaster Struck, States Repealed Onerous Regulations

Via Washington Examiner

The widespread destruction caused by Hurricane Florence reinforces the urgent need for lawmakers to reassess state laws and repeal burdensome state-level regulations that can slow disaster response and recovery efforts.

The good news is that many states have learned from past mistakes and have adopted innovative policies. In fact, more than 25 states have adopted laws that now make is easier for disaster relief workers to avoid government bureaucracy during those critical days and weeks following a tragedy.

In response to natural disasters in previous years, policymakers many times focused their efforts on appropriating money to pay for reconstruction. However, temporarily repealing burdensome state regulations and tax policies is another essential tool that policymakers have at their disposal to significantly speed up response times for indispensable disaster relief workers.

House Sends Knee-Jerk Bill to Senate That Would Undo Needed Conservative Justice Reform

By Former Rep. Bob Barr via The Daily Caller

Lightning-fast responses may be an ability that separates good athletes from outstanding ones. Possessing the skill to respond instantaneously to what is happening around you can mean the difference between the checkered flag at the Indianapolis 500 and a second-place finisher no one will long remember.

But in crafting legislation, knee-jerk reactions to events in the real world seldom withstand the test of time and frequently cause more long-term harm than benefit. Unfortunately, this is a lesson rarely understood by state legislators or by those who serve in Congress. This is the case regarding a bill that recently passed the House and awaits action by the Senate — the “Community Safety and Security Act of 2018” (H.R. 6691). As often is the case, the title of this proposed law belies the actual impact of the legislation, and the solution to the problem it purports to “fix” is certain to cause further and more serious problems down the road.

As Jason Pye, Vice President of Legislative Affairs for Washington-based FreedomWorks has noted, H.R. 6691 goes so far as proposing to codify “fleeing” as a “crime of violence.”  Pye correctly notes also that another “crime of violence” included in the Act’s expansion of the federal criminal code, is the offense of “interference with flight crew members". If only for the sake of those of us who actually remain concerned about a federal criminal code that already is far too lengthy and unclear, let us hope the Senate gives this piece of knee-jerk legislation a quick and unambiguous burial.

This is laughable! >>>RNC Poll: GOP in danger due to complacent Trump voters.    I have to refute this claim.

I know they THINK that the GOP Voters are complacent with the upcoming mid terms. They are very WRONG!

Conservatives are more fired up now than we all were for the Presidential election.

The more unhinged, and, the nastier the left become, they are guaranteeing a HUGE RED WAVE in November. Conservatives on social media are voicing their anger and that they will be dragging everyone to the polls. It's going to be glorious.   DO NOT BELIEVE THE MEDIA. They will spin everything to make people think, what's the use of voting.

Here's today Gallop I saw:

Republican Party Favorability Highest in Seven Years

Who knows what the hell to believe, Robin.  The concerted effort to divide us continues...and that includes the Repubes!

Ask JG what she thinks.  She called the Trump win.  So did my brother.  I'll ask him.

;)

I will ask her, Jodi. I see a Red blowout. I can feel it.

RNC is about as believable as the DNC. Neither party represents us. As for Trump voters being complacent, BS! I didn't vote for Trump but after seeing that the man has kept his word and his promises, I am squarely on the Trump team. I have no doubt that Trump has added thousands and maybe millions to his team of supporters. It has been refreshing not to have a two stepping, BS spewing, promise breaking politician as President. As for midterms, the only way that loony leftist can win back the house will be through voter fraud, or some other type of corruption. We are fired up and we will be voting midterms. Not seeing complacency, just BS from the establishment.
