BlackRock and Vanguard: The Two-Headed Thing that Ate America

Every major bank and business must navigate through a narrow financial strait where they are likely to be gobbled up by two gigantic financial firms that stand as the Scylla and Charybdis of today’s economic world.

Vanguard and BlackRock, two mega, privately-owned corporations, possess the lion’s share of the world’s wealthiest companies.

They own just about everything.

They own Coke and they own Pepsi.

They own Apple and Microsoft.

They own the world’s largest banks, including Citibank, J P Morgan Chase and Bank of America.

For this reason, they are the principal owners of the Federal Reserve System, which produces America’s currency and determines the existing interest rates. Bloomberg has labeled Black Rock “the fourth branch of the government,” since it is the primary lender of money to the Fed and serves as its chief financial advisor.

They own the world’s largest manufacturing plants, including Tesla and Boeing.

They own the leading entertainment companies, including Comcast and The Walt Disney Company, and the major motion picture studios, including Sony (Columbia), 20th Century Fox, and Warner Brothers. One of their assets is Mickey Mouse; another is James Bond.

They own the firms (including Exxon Mobil and Chevron) that produce coal, natural gas, oil, nuclear, and green energy.

They own Facebook and Twitter.

They own many of the leading food production companies, including PepsiCo, JBS, Bunge, Sysco, Tyson, and George Weston. This means they control much of what people eat and drink.

This development has come to pass as corporate merge and merge to create vast conglomerates. In today’s world, smaller investors are owned by larger investors; and, the larger investors, in turn, are owned by even bigger investors.

The top of this financial mountain shows almost everything is owned Vanguard and BlackRock. As Lew Rockwell points out, “The power of these two companies is beyond your imagination. Not only do they own a large part of the stocks of nearly all big companies but also the stocks of the investors in those companies. This gives them a complete monopoly.”

But reaching the top of this mountain only serves to make matters murkier. BlackRock is a publicly traded company which lists Vanguard as its principal shareholder. And who owns Vanguard? No one really knows since it is privately owned and is not obliged to make a public disclosure of its owners.

Vanguard and BlackRock represent the 1% of the 1% who have garnered 82% of the world’s wealth. The value of these companies is beyond calculation. A Bloomberg report states that the two companies by 2028 together will have investments in the amount of 20 trillion dollars.

Vanguard and Black Rock own not only the vaccines but also, by their control of the press, engineer the medical, scientific, and political response to the coronavirus.

They own the press, both CNN and Fox News.

They also own The New York Times, The New York Post, The Wall Street Journal and The Washington Post.

They control what you read and what you think.

They control you.

If you've wondered why these large companies have become increasingly politicized in the last decade are so, I suspect this is why.

Who Are the Owners of Vanguard Group?

Vanguard has a fairly unique structure in terms of investment management companies. The company is owned by its funds. The company’s different funds are then owned by the shareholders. Thus, the shareholders are the true owners of Vanguard. The company has no outside investors other than its shareholders. Most of the major investment firms are publicly traded.

[...]

Some experts believe Vanguard’s structure allows it to avoid conflicts of interest that are present at other investment management firms. Publicly traded investment management firms must cater to their shareholders and the investors in their funds.

Make sense to you?  Me neither.
