Barr Announces Multiple Lawsuits as Part of DOJ Crackdown on Sanctuary Cities.. California, New Jersey and Washington

This is great news!

Attorney General William Barr announced Monday the Justice Department is filing three lawsuits against California, New Jersey and a Washington county over their so-called “sanctuary city” policies relating to illegal immigrants.

“Today is a significant escalation in the federal government’s efforts to confront the resistance of ‘sanctuary cities,'” Barr said during remarks at the National Sheriffs’ Association Winter Legislative and Technology Conference.

“Let us state the reality upfront and as clearly as possible: When we are talking about sanctuary cities, we are talking about policies that are designed to allow criminal aliens to escape,” the attorney general said.

“These policies are not about people who came to our country illegally but have otherwise been peaceful and productive members of society,” he explained.

“Their express purpose is to shelter aliens whom local law enforcement has already arrested for other crimes. This is neither lawful nor sensible.”

Other than individual Social Security, and Medicare all federal funding to Sanctuary States, Cities, Counties and Townships needs to stop immediately, and not be reinstated until every State and local council and law enforcement organization comes to complete and total compliance with Federal Immigration Law, and is retroactively enforced.

I totally agree! My state of NJ is a mess under Murphy.

If someone enters our country illegally, they have already broken the law. It seems that an illegal would have to use fake documents, including stealing identities to stay in our country and be productive. Going after sanctuary cities is a start, but should be without concessions.

Thats what they do Kwic. Steal documents and get fake SS numbers, etc. Thank goodness illegals head up north in NJ. All the cities are up there.

In 2010, when republicans took control from dems in our state for the first time in 139 years, the republicans began to let the illegals here know that they were not welcome here, and would be deported. Illegals started fleeing our state in droves, fearing they would be arrested and deported. Immediately, the board of education, along with teachers in public schools in our state, made it publicly known that the illegals and their children would be protected and safe in schools, effectively giving our state legislator the middle finger. The farmers in our state, who control the state, were angry and fought the republicans to bring back their cheap labor.

Until 2010, our state had a large population of illegals that were taking jobs from legal citizens. After the republicans took office, and the illegals started fleeing the state, jobs opened, especially in construction and things began to get better. The farmers, however refused to hire legal citizens, claiming that legal citizens didn't want those jobs. Until illegals poured into our state, I know people personally that had those jobs!

The farmers continued to fight, until the republicans quietly began to cave, and allow illegals to return for farm work. Unfortunately, those illegals have brought with them, friends and family, that are not farm workers, and although they do not seem to be in as many jobs as before 2010, they are still taking jobs that legal Americans should have.

I love legal immigrants. My ex daughter in law is one. It took her 3 years and thousands of dollars to come here, but she did it the right way. Illegals pay thousands to come illegally, yet they are here for a better life? I don't know many poor people that have thousands of dollars at their disposal. Where are illegals getting the thousands they need to come here illegally?

I am for legal immigration too, Kwic! I don't know many poor people either that can pay thousands to come here. I believe they are funded by groups having to do with Soros and others that want our country flooded with them.

Quick story. One of Rick's cancer doctors, who has been here for years, has applied for citizenship. He has to keep renewing his Visa. He has been waiting for YEARS to become a citizen. His wife is also a doctor, and, it is just painful to hear his story. He is one of the TOP Oncologists in my area. I asked him if I could help, or vouch for him. He said no, he will just have to wait until he can get it. HOW is that fair? I don't understand.

You're right Robin. The illegals are being sent here by those who wish to bring our country to it's knees. We know there are many on the inside helping those that are funding the illegals.

It's terrible that your husbands Dr. has to jump through hoops, when he is obviously an asset not to just our country, but his patients as well!

My ex daughter in law has had a similar experience. She worked as an administrator in a senior care facility.

The people that are coming here illegally did nothing to fight for or help their country's of origin, and they will do nothing to help ours either, other than become a burden to our welfare system!

The way those people have demanded that we owe them somehow enrages me, and I do not feel charitable toward them, whether their intent is for a better life or not!

Good News!

Trump admin ordering elite tactical units to enforce immigration law at sanctuary cities!

The Trump administration confirmed a plan to send elite tactical units to enforce immigration law in sanctuary cities and officials in several municipalities are already criticizing the new policy.

The New York Times first reported on Friday that the immigration enforcement officers would be sent to ten cities that had implemented sanctuary city policies.

Those cities are Chicago, New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Houston, Boston, New Orleans, Detroit and Newark, New Jersey.

A spokesman confirmed the report, saying that the 100 agents will help aid Immigration and Customs Enforcement "in order to enhance the integrity of the immigration system, protect public safety, and strengthen our national security."

Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva said in a statement that he opposed the action.

"We cannot allow the federal government to weaponize our immigration system for partisan politics," Villanueva said.

"This poorly thought out plan can only be seen as a tactic to intimidate an already vulnerable population and drive them deeper into the shadows," he added.

Trey Gowdy insists Barr working hard to clean up DOJ despite McCabe decision: 'Lady Justice needs that blindfold back on'

The Justice Department's decision to not pursue criminal charges against former FBI deputy director Andrew McCabe continues a "terrible four years" for the department, former House Oversight Committee Chairman Trey Gowdy told Fox News on Friday.

However, the ex-South Carolina congressman said he believes Attorney General William Barr is doing all he can with the resources at hand to clean up the DOJ and restore the public's trust in the institution.

"It's been a terrible four years for the Department of Justice and the FBI -- two institutions this country absolutely needs for its citizenry to have respect for," Gowdy said during an appearance on "Hannity." "Bill Barr, in my judgment -- I'm a huge fan of his -- I think he is doing everything he can to put the blindfold back on that lady. Lady Justice needs that blindfold back on."

Gowdy said that while the McCabe decision isn't ideal, Barr has been a great attorney general. He pointed to Barr's statement that President Trump did not obstruct justice in the Russia investigation and his work to ensure that Republican consultant Roger Stone's prison sentence be more proportionate to the crime.

"This is the department that said, 'We didn't have the evidence on Andy McCabe.' So we have got to give [Barr] the resources and the time and the support to get those institutions back where we need them as a country to be."

Host Sean Hannity took a different tack on the matter, remarking that Trump supporters and conservatives appear to be treated differently than liberals or Trump critics when under investigation or indictment.

Gowdy said he has faith that Connecticut federal prosecutor John Durham's investigation -- ordered by Barr -- will bring more clarity and potential consequences to the current situation.

"Let John Durham figure it out. But, if people don't have confidence in the Department of Justice, we're not going to agree with whatever they come up with anyway," he said.

The DOJ's decision on McCabe came after a nearly two-year investigation into accusations brought by the agency's independent watchdog that found that he lacked "candor" when questioned about leaking to the media.

In a letter to McCabe attorney Michael Bromwich obtained by Fox News, Justice Department attorney J.P. Cooney said: “We write to inform you that, after careful consideration, the government has decided not to pursue criminal charges against your client, Andrew G. McCabe."

“Based on the totality of the circumstances and all of the information known to the government at this time, we consider the matter closed," Cooney added.

ICE isn't playing around any longer. They are issuing subpoenas for all sanctuary cities and states!

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) continues to issue subpoenas in an effort to obtain information about criminal aliens from local agencies that refuse to cooperate with federal immigration authorities. ICE announced on Friday that the federal agency had served four subpoenas to the San Diego County Sheriff's Office (SDSO) who are unable to share information with ICE due to California's sanctuary law.

Justice Dept. sues ‘sanctuary’ jurisdictions in new crackdown over immigration enforcement.

Attorney General William P. Barr announced Monday that the Justice Department would sue two so-called “sanctuary” jurisdictions — including the state of New Jersey — over policies he considers overly friendly to those in the country unlawfully, as part of a renewed effort to get cities and states on board with the Trump administration’s crackdown on illegal immigration.

In separate complaints filed in federal court, the Justice Department sought to block a New Jersey policy that limits how state and local authorities can share information with federal immigration officials and to stop a King County, Wash., directive that prevents immigration authorities from using an international airport there for deportations. King County includes the city of Seattle.

Barr announced the lawsuits in a speech to the National Sheriffs’ Association, saying they were part of “a significant escalation in the federal government’s efforts to confront the resistance of ‘sanctuary cities.’ ” He said he also was reviewing the practice of some state and local prosecutors who charge criminals with lesser offenses to avoid deportation, and giving non-sanctuary jurisdictions priority when it comes to awarding certain grant money.
“In addition to not being lawful, these policies make no sense,” Barr said. “Innocent people are routinely threatened and hurt by illegal aliens who local jurisdictions have set free.”

New Jersey Attorney General Gurbir S. Grewal said in a statement: “Once again, the Trump Administration is sacrificing public safety for political expedience. It’s no surprise that the President, facing re-election, has suddenly decided to challenge a policy we first announced in 2018. What’s disappointing is that my former colleagues at the Justice Department have agreed to go along with this election year stunt.”

King County Executive Dow Constantine said in a statement, “It is no surprise that Trump and Barr are bullying King County for being a welcoming community that respects the rights of all people. Our ordinances rightly require that King County facilitate immigration enforcement directives only when accompanied by a valid court order. . . We look forward to our day in court.”;_ylu=X3oDMTB...
