America nears el tipping pointo

Ann Coulter lays out Hispanic demographics that should greatly worry GOP

Published: 2 hours ago

I apologize to America’s young people, whose dashed dreams and dim employment prospects I had laughed at, believing these to be a direct result of their voting for Obama.

On closer examination, it turns out that young voters, aged 18-29, overwhelmingly supported Romney. But only the white ones.

According to Pew Research, 54 percent of white voters under 30 voted for Romney and only 41 percent for Obama. That’s the same percentage Reagan got from the entire white population in 1980. Even the Lena Dunham demographic – white women under 30 – slightly favored Romney.

Reagan got just 43 percent of young voters in 1980 – and that was when whites were 88 percent of the electorate. Only 58 percent of today’s under-30 vote is white, and it’s shrinking daily.

What the youth vote shows is not that young people are nitwits who deserve lives of misery and joblessness, as I had previously believed, but that America is hitting the tipping point on our immigration policy.

The youth vote is a snapshot of elections to come if nothing is done to reverse the deluge of unskilled immigrants pouring into the country as a result of Ted Kennedy’s 1965 immigration act. Eighty-five percent of legal immigrants since 1968 have come from the Third World. A majority of them are in need of government assistance.

Whites are 76 percent of the electorate over the age of 30 and only 58 percent of the electorate under 30. Obama won the “youth vote” because it is the knife’s edge of a demographic shift, not because he offered the kids free tuition and contraception (which they don’t need because it’s hard to have sex when you’re living with your parents at 27).

In 1980, Hispanics were only 2 percent of the population, and they tended to be educated, skilled workers who got married, raised their children in two-parent families and sent their kids to college before they, too, got married and had kids (in that order).

That profile has nothing to do with recent Hispanic immigrants, who – because of phony “family reunification” rules – are the poorest of the world’s poor.

More than half of all babies born to Hispanic women today are illegitimate. As Heather MacDonald has shown, the birthrate of Hispanic women is twice that of the rest of the population, and their unwed birthrate is one and a half times that of blacks.

That’s a lot of government dependents coming down the pike. No amount of “reaching out” to the Hispanic community, effective “messaging” or Reagan’s “optimism” is going to turn Mexico’s underclass into Republicans.

Any election analysis that doesn’t deal with the implacable fact of America’s changing demographics is bound to be wrong.

Perhaps the reason elections maven Michael Barone was so shockingly off in his election prediction this year was that, in the biggest mistake of his career, Barone has been assuring us for years that many of these Third World immigrants pouring into the country would go the way of Italian immigrants and become Republicans. They’re hardworking! They have family values!

Maybe at first, but not after coming here, having illegitimate children and going on welfare.

Charles Murray recently pointed out that – contrary to stereotype – Hispanics are less likely to be married, less likely to go to church, more supportive of gay marriage and less likely to call themselves “conservative” than other Americans.

Rather than being more hardworking than Americans, Hispanics actually work about the same as others, or, in the case of Hispanic women, less.

It seems otherwise, Murray says, because the only Hispanics we see are the ones who are working – in our homes, neighborhoods and businesses. “That’s the way that almost all Anglos in the political chattering class come in contact with Latinos,” he notes. “Of course they look like model Americans.”

(Black males would apparently like to work more. Nearly 20 percent of black males under 30 voted for Romney, more than three times what McCain got.)

An article by Nate Cohn in the current New Republic argues, as the title puts it: “The GOP Has Problems With White Voters, Too.” As proof, Cohn cites Jefferson County, Colo.; Loudoun County, Va.; Wake County, N.C.; and Somerset County, N.J., all of which went Republican in presidential elections from 1968 through 2004, but which Romney lost in 2012.

Smelling a rat, I checked the demographic shifts in these counties from the 2000 to the 2010 census. In each one, there has been a noticeable influx of Hispanics (and Asians, who also vote Democrat), diminishing “the white vote” Cohn claims Republicans are losing.

Between the 2000 and 2010 census, for example, the white population of Jefferson County declined more than 90 percent to less than 80 percent, while the Hispanic population more than doubled, from 6 percent to 14 percent.

In Loudoun County, the Asian population tripled from 5 percent to 15 percent and the Hispanic population doubled from 6 percent to 12 percent. Meanwhile, whites plummeted from 83 percent to 69 percent of the population.

Similarly, Wake County shifted from 74 percent white to 66 percent white in the past decade, while the Hispanic population doubled, from 5 percent to 10 percent, and the black population stayed even at about 20 percent.

In Somerset County, the Hispanic population grew by 63 percent and the Asian population grew by 83 percent since 2000. The number of whites has remained steady, resulting in a population that is now just 62 percent white.

These were the counties chosen by Cohn, not me, to show that Republicans are losing “the white vote.” Except they’re not so white, anymore. With blacks, Asians and Hispanics voting 93 percent, 73 percent and 71 percent for Obama, Republicans have to do more than just win the white vote. They have to run the table.

Romney got a larger percentage of the white vote than Reagan did in 1980. That’s just not enough anymore.

Ironically, Romney was the first Republican presidential candidate in a long time not conspiring with the elites to make America a dumping ground for the world’s welfare cases. Conservatives who denounced Romney as a “RINO” were the ones doing the bidding of the real establishment: business, which wants cheap labor and couldn’t care less if America ceases to be the land of opportunity that everyone wanted to immigrate to in the first place.

Tony, this country has become so divisive lately that I don't know where I live. In the early 1600's the Dutch settled a town called New Amsterdam. By the late 1700's over 26 languages were spoken in that town. Today we call it New York. And long before it became New York, most everyone was speaking English or learning it.

In 1975 I began working with adult immigrants and migrant farm workers. The immigrants were Laotian, Cambodian, Vietnamese and Hispanic. Most spoke a little English but wanted desperately to learn how the "Americans" spoke. That was my job. The migrant workers needed to learn to read and write. (That's another terrible story no one ever talks about! They were both black and while American citizens and a story for another time.)
I worked with these wonderful people for 5 years and never saw a group so intent on learning and blending. NO! This did not mean they gave up there homeland traditions at all. Actually, sharing them with one anther helped bond the group - a group that in their homelands did NOT get along!

Jump to 2000. The adult immigrants spoke only their native language at home and if, as an 8th grade teacher, I needed a conference, I had to find a translator. Their children spoken very poor English even though they were born here. No one cared but me! How could I teach someone who could not understand my language and showed no interest in learning it? Why did they come here? They were all poor. How could they get a decent job? Even the Spanish teacher had trouble helping me because those from Mexico do no speak the same Spanish the Spaniard do!

In 2008 I looked up the percentages of different groups of people for another site. I looked up my own first and then the two we hear the most about
Germans - 15%
African-Americans - 14%
Hispanics - 14%

Now just how much of more of a minority are blacks and Hispanics than I am? NOT MUCH!
Now you want a minority - here is one. The Jews - including ethnically and religiously - 2% THAT IS A MINORITY!

So are we dividing on skin color? I am sure you know that Mexicans, Spaniards, and Puerto Ricans are hardly a cohesive group!

I was invited and joined friends for many Greek Festivals and for Jewish Rosh Hashanah
and Chanukkah. I have invited others to German October fests. But not for a long time. Everyone is afraid. My last year of teaching the Spanish teacher sent me some food and drink from the Cinco de mayo party he gave his students. My Mexican students were LIVID that I participated!

So what has happened since the founding of New Amsterdam? Our junior high schools are microcosms of our future society. Different Hispanic groups hate one another. The blacks hate the Hispanics just a little more than they do the whites. The Ukraines have no intention of learning our language and have sticky fingers. (6 years of trying to teach them allows me to make that statement. I know there are exceptions.) The Chinese hate all of us, run in gangs, and brag about how soon they will be running things. I lived this for over 5 years. I have been retired for 6 years. Obama has just made it worse.

Somewhere, somehow, the morals of the world have been lost. I blame the media and the total breakdown of so many families. Even so-called "good families" expect the schools to raise their children and do a great deal of babysitting.

Tony, you know where I live. Can you imagine how bad it is in large cities? Until those of us who are retired and have the time do more that blog, email, fax, and call people who long ago stopped representing us, nothing is going to change.

After 4 years, I have quit the battle. On the upside, I no longer worry about losing so much of my savings. Obamacare will see to it that I don't live long enough to need it!

Molle: You are so right in what you say, and it's from experience. Politicans that "ruin" our lives have no idea about the minority groups and their living conditions. I also work with refugees and immigrants, teaching them ESL and citizenship (getting them ready for their citizenship test). I also find that Hispanics from countries where they don't get along with each other (Mexico and Central Americans, Colombia/Venezuela, Argentina/Chile) do very well in our environment and collaborate in each other's cultural activities. However, it is also true that new waves of immigrants are more illiterate than previous ones, because they come from agricultural backgrounds and never studied beyond sixth grade in their towns. Worst of all, they don't want to assimilate, and the Communist organization La Raza recruits them for their demonstrations and other anti-USA movements. Obama has made it worse, because his Cultural Marxist background foments this activity as part of the effort to disintegrate the US culture, destroying families which are the root of our Judeo-Chrisitan moral structure.

Tony, thank you! I so wanted to get that info but I didn't want to upset anyone. I know how easy it is to misunderstand the written word! You got exactly what I was trying to say! If you know of anything I can do up here - please let me know! I so miss teaching but could never go back to the regular classroom. I have an associate degree in ESL but would definitely need to refresh it. And I would gladly do so!

Molle: Presently, I'm working with a +50-year old non-profit organization that is dedicated to advance the educational knowledge, teach job and career-oriented skills, develop leadership abilities, and instill a sense of dedication and responsibility for community involvement to Hispanic youth - to the HS level.  This includes after-school programs, summer camps, all for the short-term plan and, for the long-range will include a Hispanic Charter School beginning with a K-5 and then to K-12. Please go to the ASPIRA website to see the national network, and ASPIRA NC to see what, eventually, will become ASPIRA OF THE CAROLINAS (that will include NC and SC).-  In time, we'll be involved in all areas where large concentration of Hispanic populations exist in NC and SC.

I agree Tony. Obama has made things much worse. He has worked overtime to destroy our culture and our way of life. So far, he has done a pretty good job of it too.

Good post. I think a number of things happened that that caused immigrants to feel they no longer needed to assimilate. Multiculturalism, globalization (the notion of sovereignty, patriotism, and national borders are being eroded from the public conscious), the left continuing to demonize the USA around the world. It does not help when every product you buy comes with instructions in four different languages and and and Spanish speaking Customer service. There is no longer an incentive to learn the native language.

I agree, Watchman!  When I was kid (decades ago) folks who came here from other countries became Americans, and were proud to do so.  They also kept carefully selected bits of their Old World culture.  One would see this in their homes. Sometimes it was fancy serving dishes, carvings, those little nesting dolls from Russia or the Ukraine, embroidered dresser scarves, etc.  Those things were enough to keep their identity with their country of origin, but they truly became Americans.  I grew up in a steel mill town where there were neighborhoods for every ethnic group imaginable, but they all learned to be American!  Now, the neighborhoods are like gang territories, and America ~ the country giving them the best life they could ever imagine ~ is scorned.  It has to change.

The reason that you don't see many immigrants come to this country and "assimilate" is because the Left, the Communists, the Progressives have made it a point to divide this population into groups  to establish a "tribal" mentality in order to have all fighting each other for the Government "goodness" (freebies) and be able to better control them. They have accomplished this by instituting "acculturation" instead, to promote their own identity and foment disdain for the America that our Founding Fathers envisioned. However, there are new waves of immigrants still looking for "opportunities" to achieve the American Dream, become productive citizens but, there are also those - the young, the idealists, the impressionable - seeking better education, pop culture. Depending on where they end up living, big cities with ghettos, most will end up as "bait" for the predators such as La Raza, unions, gangs, human traffickers, or political organizations like the ones that transported Somalis to the ballot boxes without knowing what it was all about. Can we ever eradicate these criminal minds?

Excellent points! And something else - our public schools foster and encourage this mentality! And I am sorry to say that it was the "No Child Left Behind" program that did it!

This program states that teachers cannot penalize a child for not knowing our language. Now this makes sense if they just arrived but if they have been here for 10 years and still do not speak one word of English - it is dumb! And that is what happens. We make special, super easy tests for them, read it to them, give them hints, and let them take it over and over until they pass it. Needless to say, the other students soon learn to resent them!

On top of that, if they still don't pass - the teacher is required to "place" them in the next grade! The year I had to "place" 10 students who had made no effort or be fired,, I retired. I had my years in and then some but it broke my heart. Six years later and it still does!

It educates NO ONE and it breeds contempt between the groups. And it breaks my heart! I have told this story often, the few parents who believe go see the principal who lies to them and tells them it is not true. These students are also excused from taking what state exam is given in 4th and 8th grade and exit exam. They are given a diploma (if they stay in school that long) stating "they attended the required number of years!

Tony, you are so right.  This has been in the works for decades, and the European immigrants that once came here to realize the American dream as families, and wanted to be American, have been replaced with those you described, without family support.

The first step is to make the family unit prominent.  I have no idea how this can be made to happen.  Those growing up on the government dole see that as the norm, rather like the child of the alcoholic or abuser.  The adult who grew up with that dysfunction must himself want to change.  They are not hurting under the present system, so why would they want change?  The so-called 'poor' in this country are often quite fat, and have the latest gadgets and body art.  What a tough row to hoe!

Great thread, Tony, Mollie, and all who joined in here!

Unfortunately, the Church used to take care of the "family structure" in the past, but now they're protecting their non-profit status to not lose it to accusations of "separation of church and state" by the American Communist Lawyers United (ACLU). Presently, we're beginning programs to assist Hispanic families to help their children with school activities, teach parents about computer usage, and offer them social services to cope with the needs of public service (police, fire, first responders) outreach activities. After all, the majority of Hispanic families are "matriarchal"; the children's education comes first. What's surprising is that, unlike in their home countries, fathers are beginning to partake in the responsibilities to raise their children. So, we're also offering mentoring programs.

Tony, the Church needs to grow a spine, and stop putting the almighty dollar ahead of God, which is what they do by acquiescing to the liberal agenda because they fear a lawsuit from the ACLU.

It is great that you are 'hands on' involved in trying to keep family units working together.  It is obvious that the liberal governments prefer the dependency.
