Our struggling students,,, I hope this is not where our future is.

I could think of about 50 questions for this young lady, I wonder how many of her participation trophies her parents have on their mantlepiece. Simply amazing that someone in this country who is getting an education paid for by private donations via scholarship and receives health care provided by that institution can sit there with a straight face and claim that she is being discriminated against for not getting her birth control of her choice for free.

Good Post.  I hear this a lot and have the same question Doug.  I had traveled maybe 2 million air miles to over 30 nations.  One of the first things that struck me even at the start was how much serious poverty in the world - how many have little to no housing and little to no food, and some have no safety.  I do not understand why others in America do not see this.  But to me, the spoiled brats in the US who have housing, food and safety say their biggest issue is birth control or plastic surgery.  Huh?  Even where I live, I know many who have lost their businesses, their jobs, their homes, their life savings and their credit rating, and these spoiled brats say that what they really need is all the condoms they can eat.  There is a homeless guy living near our Walmart - true story - he sleeps on the concrete and I am not clear what he has to eat.  I will go up to him on this lady's behalf and tell him that we care - here is a morning after pill.

I find the people I admire are certainly not the spoiled brats.  I admire most the ladies in our last two churches who wake up early to feed the hungry.  And I admire Bono who I think is sincere cares about AIDs and gets directly involved.  Those people are a thousand times higher in my mind than the spoiled brats.

As for the spoiled brats - birth control is available.  Maybe if they want it they should forgo a movie or balance their budget - as everyone else on the fricking planet has had to do.

Yeah, if you look at the definition of poverty in the US and contrast that with the rest of the world,,, well these people just need to shut up. Even the poorest in America would be considered part of the top 1% when compared to the rest of the world.

I finally got see that video, and it really frosts me to think that young (or old) women today think 'free' contraception is their 'right.'  There is a huge difference between married couples choosing to use birth control for their very private reasons, and the college girl who needs it to party hardy without responsibility!  Maybe I am just an old fashioned dame.

This 'poor' student, getting a college education, and thinking she is further entitled to stuff paid for by other who WORK, is representative of the bigger problem!

I guess Rush Limbaugh is now the target of the White House for calling that girl a slut.  Well, is it nasty if it is simply accurate?  Who decides "slut"?  There is one outlook that says "a slut is a woman with the sexual morals of a man".  I say.. guilty.
