"Minority Report" is about to come to fruition. Due Process would cm an end w/ the Red Flag law as a person's gun(s) would be confiscated because of a mere suspicion; or because the dominant party does not like what might be posted online against them.

An ignoramus might argue that if the repubs dominate DC that they wouldn't abuse or exploit it.  To them I say: Remember Katrina?  Law enforcement wemt from home to home confiscating people's guns - w/ out cause. And that was under GW Bush.

Communist nations would consider such a "lae" as brilliant.  I wouldn't even support  Trump should he attempt any Exec Ordor that infringes on our Second Amendment; or any other.

From day one I had said that only Donald Trump would take down Donald Trump. W/ out a doubt the Trump-haters...on both sodes pf the aisle...are drooling w/ anticipation of Trump blowing this one royally. Even if it does shatter the US Constitution which stands alone between our God given Natural Rights and tyranny.  Please, President Trump, DON'T do this!!!

I agree, Luis.  I’m sending this to all members!

I don't believe that George Bush was responsible for Louisiana law enforcement orders or conduct JG.  Remember, the local New Orleans administration was controlled by Democrats, not Republicans or Conservatives.  The Red Flag laws being implemented in 17 states are basically unconstitutional, and you can bet they will be challenged all the way to SCOTUS.  Too many politicians are caving to the gun grabbing left, and it suspiciously appears that President Trump is in favor of it, but I'm not so sure.  Donald Trump has an uncanny way of baiting the Dems, let's wait an see how long this emotional stuff lasts.  Remember, there are 50 states, and 17 states are in no way a majority.  Also, the states enacting this Red Flag Law are pretty much Democrat strongholds.  However, perhaps not for long as there are many firearm owners even in those Democrat states that will not be so willing to just hand over their guns, at least not without a fight.  Before panic, I believe I will wait and see where this goes.

Jerome, thank you for reminding us that Trump is very good at baiting the Dems.  I hope you are right here!

Jerome, good points.  I guess I've become very suspicious of Bush43 where Katrina is concerned. But, w/ reason. He did give us the Patriot Act and threw our troops into war w/ Iraq when Al Qaeda was clearly operating out of Afghanistan.  He also gave us TARP - which did SQUAT for the American people.

Plus, there's no denying that US presidents on both sides of the aisle used Exec Orders on gun control issues. That's NEVER acceptable regardless of party affiliation! Also, I never got over how "43" allowed the arrest and conviction of Ramos and Campean. The two border guards that were placed in the general population in prison. Where they were beaten and had to be put in solitary to save their lives. And, on top of that, Bush merely commuted their sentences only on the night before the end of his term. (There are other accounts)

My faith is in God and my loyalties are w/ my family and the Constitution; and NOT political parties..

I agree 100% Luis522! I initially didn't support Trump, but changed my mind when I saw that he actually kept his promises, and didn't just make promises to get elected like the majority of politicians do.

However, President Trumps support and push for red flag laws are giving me pause as to whether I will support him in 2020. To many politicians on both sides of the political spectrum will gladly push this law through congress in order to disarm the ones of us that disagree with them.

Tom Fitton posted this on tweeter with a warning how the red flag laws would be abused. This article is from 2012, while Obama was in office. It is more relevant today.

Hi, q55

I'm one who goes by what gets done and not what is said. And good intentions weigh ZERO on my scale. Bllsht walks. Actions and results walk!  I'll continue to measure DT according to his actions. :)

Exactly the way I see it Luis522.

Chris "Fredo" Cuomo had a bitch-fit over being referred to as "Fredo".  He went so far out as to say that being called that "is like calling Italians the "n-word!"". [*]

I wonder if the likes of Al Sharpton or Kamala Harris will loudly criticize Fredo for minimizing what blacks had had to endure.  Doubtful.

But that's not why I'm posting this. Fredo Cuomo is never worth a single second of time.  It was Trump's tweet in response that alarmed me.  DT said:  If we had Ree Flag laws that Chris Cuomo's guns would be taken away from him.

NOT GOOD at all! Trump has described my biggest fears. That those Red Flag laws WOULD BE weaponized and used in such a manner - BY EITHER SIDE!  The contraversial FISA court would no longer be have to be used.  Anyone who knows me here knows that I am NO political party fanatic; and that includes DJT!  My loyalties are w/ my God; my family and the Constitution.  The Red Flag laws should NEVER happen!

I'm with the rest of you when it comes to Trump's comments on red flag (pushed by 1st daughter, Ivanka!) and closing 'loopholes'.

I've contacted the WH and my reps to opine that political futures could be in jeopardy if any measures are taken to restrict 2ndA rights.  No one can legislate away evil.

I did find an article at PJMedia that stated:

The Void-for-Vagueness Doctrine, a cornerstone of American jurisprudence, requires laws to be written “in a manner that does not encourage arbitrary and discriminatory enforcement” (Kolender v. Lawson). By forcing a judge to perform the tenebrous ritual of predicting a person’s future criminal behavior in the absence of any violation of law, red-flag statutes descend to the most disreputable level of “arbitrary and discriminatory” legislation. Due process is always denied when a law fails to comport with the Vagueness Doctrine’s imperative for clear and consistent standards.

Fortunately, the Vagueness Doctrine is most likely to prevail when an ambiguous law threatens a constitutional right, such as free speech or the right to keep and bear arms (see, for example, Smith v. Goguen).

Let's hope the author is right.

As a life member of the NRA, I cannot in good conscience vote for a President who promised to defend the 2nd Amendment and then caves to Leftist/Communist emotions.  I will never vote for a Leftist, but I will not vote a President that thinks it's okay to disarm the American people.  I am seriously hoping and praying that President Trump rethinks and reexamines his push for "Red Flag" laws of any kind.  If he'll cave on the 2nd Amendment, will the 1st Amendment be allowed to go by the wayside?  We may be watching our Republic erode at the hands of a President in whom we put our confidence and faith to not be hypocritical.  I believe that the NRA and it's membership will not cast a vote for Donald Trump in 2020 if he signs a Bill that circumvents the God given right of self defense that is validated through our 2nd Amendment.
