The Cyber Threat: Obama’s Green Policies Threaten America’s Energy Security
Securing electric grids from cyber attack a lower priority than wind and solar power
The threat of a devastating cyber attack on the U.S. electrical grid is increasing due to the Obama administration’s politically correct policies that spend vast sums on green and smart grid technologies while failing to secure power grids from cyber attack.
A report by the Manhattan Institute, a New York think tank, warns that the push to integrate wind and solar electrical power into the $6 trillion electric utility system has created new vulnerabilities that other nations could exploit in a future cyber war.
Executive Amnesty: Obama’s path to U.N. 2030 Agenda and global socialism
In an address last week to a group of diplomats following the terrorist attacks in France, the fundamental-transformation president made a direct reference to the UN 2030 Agenda as being the solution to defeating global terrorism.
The 2030 Agenda is an updated version of Agenda 21, which includes, among other things, the right for migrants to move across open borders in search of economic opportunities.
With executive amnesty restored and the goal of executive amnesty to be the unlimited acceptance of illegal aliens (i.e., open borders), Obama or Clinton would have a significantly powerful tool to facilitate the 2030 Agenda.
By the way, Barry and Hillary are big fans of the 2030 Agenda.
In a piece I published in September, 2015, I laid out the goals of the 2030 Agenda. In a nutshell, it’s the United Nations’ plan to institute global socialism. And when you consider the socio-Marxist philosophy that drives everything Obama does and his love of all things global, his attempt to have the Supreme Court re-hear the executive amnesty case makes perfect sense.
Brainwashing Kids Can Help Solve Global Warming, Study Claims
The best way to get adults to act like environmentalists is by brainwashing their children, according to research published Monday by Oregon State University.
The study found that talking to kids about global warming caused their parents to use less energy and act more like environmentalists. The research was run on was run on 30 Girl Scout troops in northern California and had a “lasting impact on family energy consumption” for at least eight months after the end of the program.
“Children are a critical audience for environmental programs, because their current behavior likely predicts future behavior,” Hilary Boudet, an assistant professor of climate change and energy at Oregon State University and the study’s lead author, wrote in a press statement. “By adopting energy-saving behaviors now and engaging family and community members in such efforts, children can play an important role in bringing about a more sustainable future.”
The scouts experienced hour long sessions on the importance of reducing energy use to fight global warming once a week for five weeks, and participated in activities designed to support the lessons. The girls and their parents completed surveys about their energy-saving behaviors at the beginning and end of the five-week program and again several months later. The study’s authors estimated that the program reduced the amount of energy used by 3 to 5 percent.
Indoctrination through the Girl Scouts…appropriate because they’ve sadly become the Green Scouts.
'Climate change is too important to wait for climate deniers'
5 Deeply Regressive Policies Of The Modern Green Movement
The Sierra Club published a 37-page report this week attacking presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump for his “regressive” views on global warming. The Daily Caller News Foundation decided to examine the five most regressive policies environmentalists have promoted.
Policies promoted by The Sierra Club and environmentalist organizations are often at odds with other traditionally progressive ideas and frequently end up doing the most harm to the poor since raising prices and environmental regulations impact low-income individuals far more than the wealthy.
Obama to Curb Airplane Emissions, Starting Fight Between Activists and Airlines
The sweeping plan comes as President Obama prepares to leave the White House and build on his climate change legacy. The new airline rules would be the final piece of his agenda and follow the Paris Agreement that 200 countries signed, committing to taking action to reduce emissions that are believed to cause global warming
The plan released by the Environmental Protection Agency calls emissions from aircraft an “endangerment finding” and says pollution from airplanes endangers human health by contributing to climate change.
The plan does not have a timeline for fully implementing the rules nor does it include details of the regulation. The Times reported that it is possible for the EPA to release a draft by January 2017. While the draft rule could be the last action on climate change for Obama, the next administration has the ability to rewrite the draft rule.
The Obama administration has come under fire for the president’s frequent use of Air Force One. The presidential jet covered 1,836 miles round trip on Earth Day and consumed 9,180 gallons of gas, which is five times as much as the average American emits in a year.
Airlines for America called the regulation on the edge of feasibility.
“You cannot adopt a standard that you don’t know you can meet for an aircraft. Safety is job No. 1 in aviation. And if you say maybe we can push technology to meet this, that’s a worry,” said Nancy Young, vice president for environmental affairs at the Airlines for America.
Airlines only account for two percent of global emissions.
Long Range Transportation Scenarios-Omaha Metro Area
As part of its development of the 2050 Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP), MAPA would like the public to rank six transportation scenarios for potential project areas which would receive federal funding in the coming years.
The six scenarios are based on feedback from surveys and meetings where the public was asked to prioritize goals and strategies for the region’s transportation needs. The purpose of the 2050 LRTP is to provide a vision for transportation development in the next several decades.
These scenarios will help forecast the types of transportation projects needed in the Omaha-Council Bluffs metropolitan area during the next several decades, said Greg Youell, MAPA Executive Director.
Six public meetings are scheduled during the public comment period of May 31 through June 14. The meetings will be an open house format, so please arrive at any time during the meeting time frame. Anyone not able to attend one of the meetings may click here to complete an online survey in English or complete the survey en Español aquì.
Crumbling Roads? Let’s Build Bike Lanes!
And more bullet trains to nowhere, while we’re at it.
In his State of the State address earlier this year, Gov. Jerry Brown pointed to California’s deferred infrastructure maintenance as “staggering” and put the price tag for repairs at $77 billion. One would be hard-pressed to find any policymaker from either party who doesn’t see the state’s crumbling and inadequate infrastructure as a crisis, although there’s the usual difference of opinion on how best to pay for the needed upgrades.
But rest assured, the California State Transportation Agency, which oversees the state’s eight transportation-related bureaucracies, released in late June the “California Transportation Plan 2040.” It’s a blueprint for the state’s infrastructure future. The only problem: it’s more about building bicycle lanes and rail connections, and dramatically changing land-use patterns to combat climate change, than it is about improving the system of roads, freeways, and bridges that most of us actually rely on to get places.
Consider it a social-engineering, rather than transportation-engineering, document. The introductory letter barely even mentions highway and bridge construction. “With approved Sustainable Communities Strategies, our regional partners are already leading the way toward transportation and land use patterns that will provide cost-effective transportation solutions and also improve livability in our communities,” wrote state Transportation Secretary Brian Kelly.
“By 2040, California will have completed an integrated rail system linking every major region in the state, with seamless one-ticket transfers to local transit,” Kelly added. “Responding to the desires of millennials and aging baby boomers alike, we will further invest in complete, safe pedestrian and bicycle networks.” Don’t worry, he doesn’t totally ignore roads. Kelly promises a “‘fix-it first’ approach that will improve operations and lower maintenance costs for our highways, roads and bridges. We will continue to support the deployment of zero-emission vehicles and other technology innovations.”
Secretive Alphabet division funded by Google aims to fix public transit in US
Exclusive: Documents reveal Sidewalk Labs is offering cloud software Flow to Columbus, Ohio, to upgrade bus and parking services
Sidewalk Labs, a secretive subsidiary of Alphabet, wants to radically overhaul public parking and transportation in American cities, emails and documents obtained by the Guardian reveal.
Its high-tech services, which it calls “new superpowers to extend access and mobility”, could make it easier to drive and park in cities and create hybrid public/private transit options that rely heavily on ride-share services such as Uber. But they might also gut traditional bus services and require cities to invest heavily in Google’s own technologies, experts fear.
Sidewalk is initially offering its cloud software, called Flow, to Columbus, Ohio, the winner of a recent $50m Smart City Challenge organized by the US Department of Transportation.
Using public records laws, the Guardian obtained dozens of emails and documents submitted to Challenge cities by Sidewalk Labs, detailing many technologies and proposals that have not previously been made public.
Some will be controversial, including spending transport subsidies for low-income residents on ride-sharing services such as Uber, requiring cities to upgrade to Sidewalk’s mobile payments system, and modernizing public parking to boost city revenues.
Sidewalk Labs was spun out from Google last June with a mission to “improve city life for everyone”.
Study: Electric Vehicles Pollute More Than Gas-powered Cars
Are electric cars more environmentally mean than green? This may be the case, as a new study indicates that electric vehicles actually emit more harmful pollutants than internal-combustion cars do. How could this be? Citing the study, conducted by Peter Achten and co-author Victor Timmers at the University of Edinburgh, the Daily Caller explains that electric cars' “zero tailpipe emissions” selling point is deceptive:
Electric vehicles tend to produce more pollutants from tire and brake wear, due in large part to their batteries, as well as the other parts needed to propel them, making them heavier.
These pollutants are emitted when electric vehicle tires and brakes deteriorate as they accelerate or slow down while driving. Timmers and Achten’s research suggests exhaust from traditional vehicles is only about one-third of the total emissions.
In other words, while people understandably focus on what’s released from exhaust pipes, the research indicates that two-thirds of total emissions come from other sources. And these particulates may be especially problematic. As the Caller further relates:
“We found that non-exhaust emissions, from brakes, tires and the road, are far larger than exhaust emissions in all modern cars,” Achten wrote in the study.
He continued: “These are more toxic than emissions from modern engines so they are likely to be key factors in the extra heart attacks, strokes and asthma attacks seen when air pollution levels surge.”
'Far larger than exhaust emissions in all modern cars'
Little Green Lies: Why Electric Cars Won’t Save the Environment
Things don’t look good for electric cars these days -- but did they ever? Tesla experienced a series of recalls, even before the recent crash in Florida that put the company’s autopilot system in the spotlight. Apparently, watching a Harry Potter movie and letting your car drive isn’t exactly a safe practice.
But the real problem with electric cars is actually the problem they’re marketed to solve: pollution. While the left insists that electric cars are the only way to protect the environment, they’re actually damaging the oil industry while shifting money to liberal interests.
Meanwhile, electric cars have proven to be a greater source of pollution than traditional vehicles.
Yet another green fail imperils California half-fast ‘bullet’ train
Jerry Brown’s dream of constructing a high-speed rail line connecting the Bay Area with Southern California suffered a major setback this week, but rest assured: every effort is being made to spend enough money quickly enough to make pulling the plug seem unreasonable. Construction costs of the project have escalated so rapidly since the time state voters narrowly approved a bond issue that instead of constructing new tracks in the Bay Area and Los Angeles, the trains will share existing tracks with conventional freight and commuter trains, drastically increasing travel time and making the trains half-fast at best. But even with this economy measure, funding is turning out to be a problem.
The latest auction in California’s cap-and-trade market for greenhouse gases fell sharply below expectations, as buyers purchased just 2% of the carbon credits whose sale funds a variety of state programs -- notably, the proposed high-speed rail project.
The quarterly auction, conducted May 18 and announced Wednesday, for state will provide just $10 million programs, including $2.5 million for the bullet train. The rail authority had been expecting about $150 million.
Those revenues are crucial, because the federal money promised to the project have to be matched by state funds. The greenies had assumed that carbon credits would be a means of avoiding appropriating taxpayers’ money to the project. But enthusiasm for paying for carbon credits has diminished:
By 2019, Germany will get rid of 6,000 megawatts of wind power
The price isn’t right
A clear sign that the global warming fraud has peaked and is on the decline.
Damages exceed the company's annual sales
Prosecutors Persecuting Climate Skeptics Busted Hiding Records
There is even more bad news for the cabal of climate alarmists and crony capitalists hoping to abuse the legal system to silence dissenters. The rogue prosecutors behind the persecution of climate-change skeptics became embroiled in yet another scandal last week, this time getting caught conspiring to evade freedom of information laws to conceal their scheming from public scrutiny.
It turns out that the coalition of more than a dozen alarmist state attorneys general, styling itself “AGs United for Clean Power,” sought to hide their machinations from the public by concocting a “common interest agreement” among themselves and their allies. However, legal experts behind the discovery are crying foul and calling for the officials implicated in the scandal to be reined in before more people are victimized. The experts also warned that the AGs involved have subjected their offices to potential civil-rights lawsuits by the victims they targeted in the quest to quash free speech.
Dem Senator’s Floor Speech to Attack Nonprofit Critical of Her
Sen. Jeanne Shaheen targets group that exposed green group coordination
A Democratic Senator will take to the chamber floor on Tuesday to attack a group that exposed her secret collaboration with environmentalist pressure groups in crafting official press statements.
Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D., N.H.) is scheduled to attack the Energy and Environment Legal Institute on the Senate floor on Tuesday as part of a coordinated PR offensive against conservative and libertarian nonprofit groups.
Nineteen Senate Democrats involved in the effort were tasked with using floor speeches to attack specific groups, which they are branding as parts of a “web of denial” seeking to impede Democratic energy and environmental policies.
Shaheen’s floor speech will go after E&E and the Competitive Enterprise Institute, a libertarian nonprofit that has been targeted by state Democratic officials seeking racketeering charges against oil giant ExxonMobil and groups to which it has donated.
UN Warns Climate Change Will Soon Make It "Too Hot to Work"
Better get your overtime in while you can because the UN says it will soon be “too hot to work.”
Research funded by the United Nations contains warnings that by 2030 climate change will cause temperatures to soar so high that “global economies” will be impacted financially to the tune of $2 trillion.
“Heat stress,” as one UN health official calls it, will force workers — especially those in developing countries — to cut back on their work hours.
This climate-induced unemployment will cause drastic reductions in gross domestic product (GDP) around the world, including a nearly .5 percent dip in the United States. The Pacific island nation of Tuvalu will be hit the worst by the warming workplace, losing approximately 25 percent of its GDP, according to the UN’s data.
NASA To Spew Mass Amounts Of Pollution To Tell Us How Much Pollution There Is
NASA plans to send a specially fitted DC-8 jet on an extended flight to get a better understanding of aerosols and greenhouse gases in the atmosphere and to better understand how they interact with each other.
The flight path will take the DC-8 from the North Pole, south over the Pacific to New Zealand, across the southern tip of South America and then north up the Atlantic to Greenland, all in an effort to show us that the same CO2 they just emitted in droves while flying all over the planet, is bad for the planet.
The total mileage for the trip is roughly 20,708 miles, which, according to Native Energy, means NASA will be putting 125 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere.

Kerry: Air conditioners as big a threat as ISIS
“As we were working together on the challenge of [ISIS] and terrorism,” Kerry said. “It’s hard for some people to grasp it, but what we–you–are doing here right now is of equal importance because it has the ability to literally save life on the planet itself.”
Petition To Remove Air Conditioning From State Department Has Over 1,800 Signatures
“WHEREAS, Secretary of State John F. Kerry has suggested that air conditioners are as big a threat as ISIS, and WHEREAS, it is the duty of our elected and appointed government officials to lead by example, THEREFORE, we call upon the U.S. Department of State to remove air conditioning from all property that the Department owns, rents, or otherwise employs, including but not limited to embassies, consulates, office buildings, etc., all vehicles owned and/or operated by the Department, and any other property, real or movable, owned, rented, or otherwise employed by the Department.”
If they fly in a private jet, they will dump 86 tons of carbon dioxide into the environment.

Five Star mayor of Turin to create Italy’s first ‘vegetarian city’
New administration raises hackles of Piedmont’s famous meat producers by pledging to promote vegetarianism as a priority
From vitello tonnato – veal with tuna sauce – to beef braised in the Piedmont region’s most famous red wine, brasato al Barolo, meat dishes have been central to the food tradition of northern Italy for centuries.
But Chiara Appendino, the new mayor of Turin and a force in the populist Five Star Movement (M5S), could be about to change all that with her pledge this week to promote vegetarian and vegan diets as a “priority” in her administration.
According to M5S’s 62-page manifesto – which also called for better urban planning and the protection of public land – Turin’s new mayor said the endorsement of meat-free and even dairy-free living was fundamental to the protection of the environment, health, and the wellbeing of animals.
While the specifics of the strategy have not been disclosed, the city is expected to set up educational projects in schools to teach students about animal welfare and nutrition.
Liberals would like the government to force you to eat less meat
First they came for your Big Gulp sodas. Then it was your donuts. But now the liberal elite are drawing the ultimate battle line in the sand. At the Washington Post, Laura Wellesley argues in favor of having the government “enable a change” in the amount of meat you consume. Is Ms. Wellesley a doctor? A dietary specialist? Perhaps some expert in agricultural issues? No… perish the thought. She’s a climate change specialist.
Take it away, Madam:
Meat consumption in the United States — and across much of the Western world — has reached a level that is unsustainable, both for our planet and for our health. We owe it to ourselves to make a change. Our politicians owe it to us to enable that change.
The average American eats three times as much meat as experts deem healthy, the average European around twice as much. And the emerging economies are quickly catching up: by 2050, global consumption is expected to rise a further 76 percent…
Last year, Chatham House, the Royal Institute of International Affairs, published research on public attitudes toward meat eating in four of the most meat-obsessed countries: the United States, Britain, China and Brazil. Our focus group participants expected governments to educate, guide and help them make necessary changes in the interests of our health and our planet. Indeed, many of the Americans interviewed believed that their government had a duty to act.
Wellesley starts off with the usual concerns for your health. Think of the children, for God’s sake. Meat is making you too fat, contributing to heart disease and causing people’s noses to fall off. (Okay… I may have made up that last one.) And to be sure, as with everything in our lives, too much of anything is rarely good for you. But precisely how much constitutes “too much” is a matter of debate. And even if you’re over that line – whatever it may be – the responsibility for your health lies with you, not your government. And yet we’re being told that the only real solution is through government action.
