~ Where the Sun Will Never Set on Our liberty ~
Lone Survivor: The Eyewitness Account of Operation Redwing and the ... by Marcus Luttrell & Patrick Robinson is as good a telling of war story as I've read in along time.
Marcus Luttrell is the only survivor of a Navy SEAL mission in Afghanistan resulting in the greatest lost of life in the Special Operations community. The book is unvarnished and politically incorrect describing Marcus and his brothers early life in rural Texas. Followed by a rather standard description of Navy BUD/S training and his subsequent deployment to Afghanistan.
The bulk of the book describes in greater detail than any other open source what happened on that mountain during Operation Red Wings. I found his E&E story the most gripping and the media frenzy while he was missing the most maddening.
Highly recommended for those interested in military history and SpecOps.

I think this is the one that will be on top of my list! Thanks for posting these, MR2!
Great book. I read it in 2009 or 2010. Great book of real courage and friendship and not giving up.
