Trump threatens to primary any conservative who opposes health care replacement bill

I can't even explain how ANGRY I am right now! What in the hell are they doing? The house conservatives are RIGHT and this bill is just like Obamacare. Say hello to single payer people!

President Donald Trump is threatening to support primary candidates of any Republican congressman who doesn’t sign off on the GOP’s health care replacement plan.

According to the Washington Examiner, Trump made the threat earlier this week during a meeting with House Majority Whip Rep. Steve Scalise (R-La.) and other GOP whips who are responsible for ensuring the GOP’s health care replacement plan receives the 218 votes it needs to pass in the House of Representatives.

So far, most House conservatives have come out to oppose the reform bill, including the 29-member House Freedom Caucus, which is led by Rep. Mark Meadows (R-N.C.). Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), the founding member of the caucus, has been outspoken in his opposition to the reform bill.

Jordan told CNN Thursday that House conservatives “want to help the President do what we told the voters we were going to do. We told them we would repeal Obamacare.”

“This bill that the House leadership has brought forward is not that,” Jordan said. “It says we’re going to repeal Obamacare, but we’re going to keep Medicaid expansion and we’re going to extend it. It says we’re going to repeal Obamacare, but we’re going to keep some of the tax increases. That’s not what we told the voters we were going to do. Let’s repeal it, let’s repeal it all.”

“Let’s do the right thing and let’s put together the right kind of legislation that accomplishes what we all told the voters we were going to do,” Jordan explained in that interview.

Louie Gohmert (R-Texas), another top House conservative, explained on “Fox and Friends Weekend” Saturday that if Trump would listen to the concerns of House conservatives then he would understand that the GOP health care replacement plan is not good and simply just a watered down version of Obamacare.

Still, some of the most vulnerable congressman could be those from districts that Trump easily won last year, including Meadows’ western N.C. district.

More from the Examiner:

If negotiations don’t reach fruition as the bill readies for a floor vote, Republican insiders said, watch Trump’s tweets and travel schedule for signs that he’s dispensed with the carrots and brought out the stick to try to get wayward members on board.

Party insiders say the president at that point could choose to make an example of one or two resistant Republicans to send a message.

In addition to the threats to congressmen, Trump met with a group of conservative organizations on Wednesday — Heritage Foundation, Club for Growth, Tea Party Patriots, FreedomWorks and Americans for Prosperity — and scolded them for being critical of the health care reform bill, which they have labeled “Obamacare Lite.”

Those organizations argue that the GOP’s replacement plan doesn’t go far enough in unwinding Obamacare, nor does it implement a market-based solution, something Trump promised on the campaign trail last year.

Trump is slated to host an event in Nashville next week to begin selling the health care reform bill to Americans.

Rush Limbaugh on Obamacare 2.0: ‘Why Do the Republicans Want to Hurt Trump’s Base?’

Conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh questioned why Congressional Republicans seem determined to inflict pain on Trump’s economically-struggling base with their healthcare bill on Friday:

Well, here’s the Breitbart piece, ladies and gentlemen. And measured against my plan, this is hieroglyphics. Measured against my plan, this is like trying to learn a foreign language. And not just learn the language, but then learn all of the dialects and all the hidden meaning with the use of slang and so forth. It’s impossible.

“Seven Reasons Why Obamacare 2.0 Is All But Guaranteed to Impose Crushing Costs on Voters, Hurt Trump’s Base, and Hand Power Back to the Democrats.” Okay, that’s the headline of the Breitbart piece. Let me ask you a question. I mean, the way I react when I see a headline like this, if it’s this bad, how in the world can the people in charge of it not know it’s this bad? If it is this bad, then why do the Republicans want to hand power back to the Democrats? Why do the Republicans want to hurt Trump’s base?

Now, that I can answer. Why do Republicans want to impose crushing costs on voters? Does any of this make sense? And why do Republicans want to hand power back to the Democrats? And why does Trump want to do that? Trump supposedly signed on to this. Okay, so let’s take this incrementally. Now, at the bottom of this piece is perhaps the most important aspect of story with nothing to do with health care.

“Sixty percent of adults are ‘hopeful and optimistic’ about America’s future.” As asserted in this story, that’s from polling data. Sixty percent of adults are hopeful and optimistic? Now, as the Breitbart writer, Katie McHugh is her name, writer of the story. She says, “That’s a precious opportunity, one that shouldn’t be wasted.” “‘The issue now is about Americans looking to not get f–ed over. If we deliver, we’ll get 60 percent of the white vote, and 40 percent of the black and Hispanic vote and we’ll govern for 50 years,’ White House Chief strategist Steve Bannon said during a November interview. ‘That’s what the Democrats missed… They lost sight of what the world is about.’” Bannon, chief strategist for Trump…

So Breitbart claims here that this Obamacare repeal and replacement bill actually targets senior citizens in Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin and makes their tax credits less effective and raises their health care costs. Those are three blue states that Trump won. Why would the Republicans do that? Do you believe that they have? Do you think that’s in the bill? The Washington Post says it is, and Breitbart’s accepting it.

Read Rush’s transcript here.

Virginia Republican congressman Dave Brat told Breitbart News Saturday radio host Matt Boyle that the American Health Care Act bill written by Speaker Paul Ryan (R.-Wis.) is designed to save the insurance companies, not return health insurance and health care delivery to the free market.

Of course they do! Biggest Insurance Company in OCare Exchanges Rallies Behind Ryan’s Obamacare 2.0

This is just one doctor I follow! They are NOT happy!

From one of my favorite doctors on twitter!

  1. This is good-must prove citizenship or submit social security number to receive Medicaid.

  2. Hospital lobby should be happy!Looks like chargemaster and inflated billing here to stay.

    1. Don't 're lottery winnings won't cost you your Medicaid until 2020-and then you could get a hardship exemption😜😩🤓😥😷

    2. 6 of 66 pages spent on lottery winners and Medicaid in House plan.(pp10-16).I need to switch from hot tea to wine reading this on Sat. Night

    3. You'll be happy to know if you win the lottery you can get a hardship exemption to stay on Medicaid.3/66 pages spent on this in Ryan's plan😩

    4. Never knew there were so many lottery winners that GOP bill would go into such detail. Is this really the best we can do?

    5. Dumbfounded that 2.5 pages spent on lottery winners being disenrolled from Medicaid as first way to reduce state Medicsid costs.

  1. Page 1 requires pulling 2 gargantuan laws and playing grammar gymnastics to see what we have.Does amend mean repeal?Weekend reading-join me?

  1. Q:Why does it cost me $5400 to get a potentially life/saving lab test when it costs others $300 or 0?A:Redistribution via healthcare law

  2. Apparently, goal is to keep big insurance cos flush with cash,so they can ration our care(practicing medicine without a license)

  3. Current healthcare law in the USA is a massive money laundering scheme;a new band of pirates is fighting over the stolen goods.

Dr. Held, thank you for your painstaking presentation, very much appreciated!

My wife would still have medical insurance left, if the pharmaceutical companies and the the pharmacies didn't gouge her insurance company for her meds.  I have found out that for some medications my wife was prescribed the pharmacy charged the insurance company in excess of $2,000.00 each month, outlandish, right?  Well, here's the kicker, I can purchase these same medications for $293.00 each month by paying the cash price.  Is it any wonder that my wife's lifetime max ran out so quickly?  There is more than money laundering going on, and it's not all the Federal Government either.  Everyone in the medical profession is stealing money from the patients.  Doctors always bill insurance companies for the maximum allowed, so that the insurance companies pay the doctor the max they will allow.  I received a doctor bill for a simple office visit for $240.00 dollars, because the doctor belongs to a conglomerate called St. Thomas Health Partners.  His charge to us used to be in the $75.00 - $125.00 range.  Please, we cannot blame the government for these exorbitantly high costs, because there is plenty of blame to go around.  Insurance companies, hospitals, pharmaceutical companies, pharmacies, doctors and diagnostic laboratories all collude to bilk the guy at the bottom of the totem pole, the patient who must use these professionals, sometimes in matters of life an death.

She is awesome and she lays it all out. She does extensive research and put it all out for everyone.

I fully understand how you are feeling, Jerome. It is very upsetting and so hard for so many that have sick loved ones. Even though I have employer provided HC, I have paid out of pocket in the year 2016 FAR more than I did in 2015. I had over 17 thousand dollars out of pocket this year. Its a hardship. Not on the level of yours though.  My husband has cancer and gets IV Immunoglobulin transfusions every 3 weeks. Last year it cost $44 thousand dollars every time. I just got a bill that shows they are now charging $66 thousand dollars for the same IVIG! WHY the $22 thousand dollar increase?

I'd like to know the justification for the $22,000.00 increase too.  There is just something that is not right, not justifiable and completely immoral within the health care industry.  Sometimes it appears that this is all part of the old Agenda 21.  Once health care becomes totally un-affordable, people will submit to euthanasia so as not to cause burden on their families, thereby cutting population by the hundreds of thousands each year.  A terrible thought, but after studying the Agenda 21, and the ethics included in it, it's not beyond the realm of possibility, is it?

I'd like to know too, Jerome and I am going to find out.

I'm in the process of doing a little covert investigation myself.   What I find, I will share.
