~ Where the Sun Will Never Set on Our liberty ~
I found a post from Robin in Jerseygal's discussion, BREAKING: CNN Reports FOUR Broward County Deputies Waited Outside S... from The Last Refuge that was quite disturbing. I suggest you read it.
After reading 'school to prison pipline', I knew it had something to do with Obama and it didn't take long to find it. Barry and the superintendent are partners in crime:
Runcie Came Via Obama, Made a Huge Salary, Got $53 Million in Grants
The story behind Nikolas Cruz and the shooting of 33 former classmates and staff is one of the repeated failures of the system from the FBI to the school to the sheriff’s office to social services. The massacre was very foreseeable but politics got in the way. Specifically, politics, funding of more than $53 million, and Chicago school discipline got in the way.
This Was Obama-Chicago Discipline
The Superintendent of Broward County Schools, Robert Runcie, came out of Chicago and the Duncan-Obama administration.
The Miami-Herald reported: In 2003, Arne Duncan, then head of the Chicago school district and later Secretary of Education under Barack Obama asked Runcie to oversee the district’s technology department. Runcie went on to serve in other administrative roles, including as chief of staff for the Board of Education, before becoming the Broward schools superintendent in 2011.
In 2016, he made $335,000 a year in a region that has poor mental health services due to lack of funds. He was well-paid to bring down the numbers and alter the so-called school-to-prison pipeline.
It was supposed to happen as a result of the Promise program.
The school board instituted a program called Promise which made not reporting criminal behavior a standard policy. Police said they did not have discretion in arrests, according to the President of the Sheriff’s union.
The Promise [Preventing Recidivism through Opportunities, Mentoring, Interventions, Support, and Education] program kept Nikolas Cruz from getting arrested. Not having a record allowed him to buy guns.
The program began in 2012 as a way of dealing with the district recording the highest number of school-related arrests statewide (over 1,000). Superintendent Runcie, with strong connections to Obama, was expected to stop the alleged school-to-prison pipeline.
The program was geared towards keeping minorities out of prison. The killer’s name was Cruz, making him a minority.
With a cooperative judge and the Superintendent’s tight connections to the Obama administration, arrests were down 66% within one year of Runcie’s arrival. Grant money started flowing into the school district. The school district initially received over $53 million in grants to facilitate “improved life for students in poverty/students of color.”
The Last Refuge has been investigating this for years and uncovered documentation making a very convincing case for the entire program being corrupted by funds and statistics.
The "good cops" want this man gone.
This is disgusting beyond words. Trying to save your buddy Barry's legacy and PROMISE program, Mr. Runcie?
Hide, deny, spin, threaten: How the school district tried to mask failures that led to Parkland shooting
Immediately after 17 people were murdered inside Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, the school district launched a persistent effort to keep people from finding out what went wrong.
For months, Broward schools delayed or withheld records, refused to publicly assess the role of employees, spread misinformation and even sought to jail reporters who published the truth.
New information gathered by the South Florida Sun Sentinel proves that the school district knew far more than it’s saying about a disturbed former student obsessed with death and guns who mowed down staff and students with an assault rifle on Valentine’s Day.
After promising an honest assessment of what led to the shooting, the district instead hired a consultant whose primary goal, according to school records, was preparing a legal defense. Then the district kept most of those findings from the public.
The district also spent untold amounts on lawyers to fight the release of records and nearly $200,000 to pay public relations consultants who advised administrators to clam up, the Sun Sentinel found.
School administrators insist that they have been as transparent as possible; that federal privacy laws prevent them from revealing the school record of gunman Nikolas Cruz; that discussing security in detail would make schools more dangerous; and that answers ultimately will come when a state commission releases its initial findings about the shooting around New Year’s.
Beyond that, though, the cloak of secrecy illustrates the steps a beleaguered public body will take to manage and hide information in a crisis when reputations, careers and legal liability are at stake.
It also highlights the shortcomings of federal education laws that protect even admitted killers like Cruz who are no longer students. Behind a shield of privacy laws and security secrets, schools can cover up errors and withhold information the public needs in order to heal and to evaluate the people entrusted with their children’s lives.
Don't you dare criticize Barry's Promise Progam
School shooting PR consultant apologizes after calling critics 'crazies' and reporter 'skanky'
A crisis public relations consultant created a crisis of her own for the Broward school district, after a video came to light in which she dismissed the district’s critics in the Parkland massacre as “crazies” and called a reporter a “skanky” “jerk” who “smells bad.”
Sara Brady, who was paid nearly $75,000 to assist the district after the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, told an audience of public relations professionals last July that critics of the school district’s controversial Promise program, which allowed students who commit minor crimes to avoid jail, were “crazies.”
She criticized South Florida Sun Sentinel reporter Scott Travis, although she didn’t name him, as “just a jerk,” and then she got more personal.
“He is sloppy, he’s reckless, he’s mean, and he smells bad,” she said, laughing along with the audience.
At another point in the video Brady describes him as “that nasty, skanky reporter.”
Broward County Commissioner Michael Udine, who represents Parkland, said the school district might have been better served by a different public relations firm.
“First rule of crisis PR. Dont let your crisis PR person cause you additional crisis PR,” he wrote on Twitter. “So sad. This is so wrong on so many levels. We have local PR people with love and compassion that would have served all of us with more dignity and professionalism!”
In other words, other PR people wouldn’t have revealed how Broward/Runcie feel about critics.
Wow Jodi! How can she call herself a PR person? She is so petty and juvenile, just like all lefties. Listening to these people make my head hurt.
They do have a different 'flair', don't they?
Unreal. I feel like my head is in a vise.
In my discussions with a far lefty, you can always tell when they've lost the argument. The names start flying.
Betsy Devos should scrap every inch of Barry's Promise program. The only thing it promises, is the continual train of money.
I was under the impression that she was going to end the program. What happened?
I was under the impression that she was going to get rid of common core and other far left socialist/communist teaching tools, but it hasn't happened yet. Those tools are a big reason that a large number of young people support socialism/communism. As long as those policy's remain in place, each generation of kids will continue to embrace a totalitarian society.
I totally agree with every word you said, Kwic.
Thanks Robin. Exactly what is Devos doing for the educational system? Where is the change that was promised? I was shocked and appalled at what my grandkids learned in our public school system. My grandkids have become great little social justice warriors thanks to their public indoctrination.
Sadly, I believe many parents are unaware that their children are being taught to be good little Bolsheviks.
Public education has taken a page right out of Vladimir Lenin's play book. "Give us the child for 8 years and it will be a Bolshevik forever. Vladimir Lenin"
We have lost a generation to cultural marxism, and if something isn't done really soon, our country will fall.
It truly is frightening, Kwic! I did see that the Trump admin has stopped Michelles school lunch program. Maybe, they are starting to focus on the Dept of Ed now. I'm praying. I really wish I had enough time to do that petition. Things have gotten so crazy here with Rick and now my father-in-law with health problems, some days I don't have time to breathe.
