~ Where the Sun Will Never Set on Our liberty ~
Rep. Trey Gowdy and the House Select Committee on Benghazi have been taking shots left and right for allegedly not uncovering anything new lately, a claim the South Carolina representative is countering by discussing how seven previous committees didn’t bother to gather murdered Ambassador Chris Stevens’ emails.
These emails paint a picture of what the situation in Benghazi was like before the horrific terrorist attack took place that ended with Stevens’ death along with three other Americans.
One has to wonder why in the world these other committees wouldn’t have obtained these emails to help gain clear perspective on what was going on in order to see what might have led up to events that transpired that fateful night.
These are truly heartbreaking.
“How did they miss Ambassador Stevens’ emails? None of the seven previous committees bothered to access the emails of our ambassador,” the South Carolina Republican told CBS News’ “Face the Nation” host John Dickerson, Sunday, at about the 4:30 mark.
“If you want a window into Libya and what was happening in the weeks and months before these four were killed, why would you not look at the Ambassador’s emails?”
Gowdy indicated that the emails showed that Stevens began requesting additional security almost from the day he arrived in Libya, on June 7.
“And on one occasion, he even joked in an email ‘maybe we should ask another government to pay for our security upgrades because our government isn’t willing to do it.’ So if you want to know what’s happening in Libya, you have to look at his emails,” Gowdy said.
“I want to know why certain things made it to your inbox, Madam Secretary, but the plaintive pleadings of our own ambassador, that you put in place, for more security never bothered to make it to your inbox,” said Gowdy.
How sad is it this man asked for help on numerous occasions and was ignored? Those who chose to sweep his requests under the rug now have his blood and that of the others who lost their lives, on their hands.
While we’re all super eager to get to the very bottom of what happened in Benghazi and who is responsible for the mess that transpired, it’s critical to make sure all the facts are gathered and a thorough investigation is completed, otherwise justice can never truly be served, and the memories of those we lost in this tragedy will not receive the full honor they are due.
Rep. Gowdy has proven on many occasions he’s a man consumed by a zeal for the truth, so I trust he’s doing his job to the best of his ability, but it’s also not 100 percent up to him.
Hillary Clinton stonewalled this investigation as much as she possibly could and helped drag things out much longer than was necessary.
Let’s hope the investigation yields results that will help bring closure and healing to all affected by the Benghazi tragedy.
