~ Where the Sun Will Never Set on Our liberty ~
I noticed this in the news feeds below....what if George (who?) Will is right, and the NJ Republican has a shot?
George Will’s quote from the article:
New Jersey Democrats — they outnumber Republicans by nearly 900,000 — powered Menendez to a 19-point victory six years ago. In last month’s primary, however, his opponent won 37.8 percent of the vote while spending next to nothing — not enough to require filing any financial statement. In October he was underwater, 19 percent to 59 percent, in a poll about whether he deserves reelection. Today, polls show Menendez with small single-digit leads, but Hugin’s brass-knuckle ads are saying things such as this: “[President Barack] Obama’s Justice Department said [Menendez] belongs in jail.” The department brought a 14-count felony corruption indictment, which resulted in a nearly three-month trial that did not convict Menendez. The government then decided against a new prosecution…
This election will test whether voters think that being a luridly indiscreet (this is a discreet way of describing Menendez’s behavior) senator is less objectionable than Hugin’s guilt of association with the pharmaceutical industry whose products help to give millions of people sufficient longevity and vitality to nurse grievances against the products’ prices.

I do believe that NJ may just give Menendez the boot! The GOP candidate running against him is neck and neck in the polls. I'll post the info on it.
Good! We do have a few Jersey members, and I hope those from other states post about their elections too. You know me and ‘Local Matters!’
Is it doable? Of course. After all, NJ had voted for Chris Chistie (fook-head he turned out to be), right? And, unlike w/ presidential or national, elections, there's no Electoral College. So no one...on either side could b*tch and whine over that!
In the end, it's gonna be all of about which side has the most knowledge of the events that have been unraveling. How well they vet "their" candidates (If at all).
Another key factor, imo, will be if the democrats that had voted for DT will comeout in support of a republican in the coming midterms. The #walkaway movement [seems] to be showing just that.
Finally, as always, it'll all be about the turn out at the polls. Regardless of ALL the seats we had gained since 2010, NOTHING is a sure thing. And NOTHING can guarantee that the needed gains [will] get us to the changes the nation does need to completely UNDO all that Obama had done during his 2 terms alone.
Btw, I have noticed that the Deficit SPENDING; let alone the $21T Debt or getting to a balancd budget, is center stage anymore. I've seen no talk of repeal of Obamacare ANYWHERE at any of the so called "912", "tea parrty" or "conservative" labeled sites.
> And nooooo one is pointing to the financial DISASTER that ponzi scheme known as Social Security is and that it WILL destroy our nation all by itself in its present form. And we CAN'T have a genuine recovery just w/ "tax reforms" alone. REAL and PERMANENT cuts in spending MUST be made! So far all we've gotten is TEMPORARY tax reform that will close within five years.
In other words - we are still levitating over the cliff! We are still a nation of economic ZOMBIES willing to do just enough (which is SQUAT!) to be able to maintain the status quo. In other words: "JUST DON'T MESS WITH MINE!". Thus, the cycle continues. Albert Einstein had described the term "Insanity" as repeating the same FAILED methods over and over again expecting a DIFFERENT result.
They will try and make the tax cuts permanent this year. As far as I can tell, there is enough nationwide support for that, as people are seeing better times.
Until after the midterms, I prefer NOT to hear about Obamacare, as a Republican majority was unable to repeal it when we had a president willing to sign said repeal bill. What a bunch of candy-a$$ chicken-$hit show boaters!
The NJ senate race will depend largely on enthusiasm for the president’s policies, AND voter turnout. There are a few competitive races in eastern PA, so if Trump were to hold rallies, say in Bucks or Northampton counties and in the Scranton area, it would likely benefit Hugin greatly, and keep NJ somewhat off the Democrats’ radar. (Wisconsin was won in part by holding rallies in Minnesota)
I'm going to tweet to Trump and ask him to PLEASE have a rally in NJ. I'd love to see creepy Menendez lose. I'm praying.
If the Dems believe that NJ is safe, it may be better to campaign in eastern PA....where supporters can just cross the river. It may force the Dems to spend in a PA district that is safer than they think. You know, a big fake out.
Great point, Jerseygal. The big fake out. Trump is good at making the left look like squirrels.
Yes, Christie turned out to be a complete disaster, Luis! It will be all about turnout for NJ.
Living here, I do know that from what I hear and see, people are extremely upset with our new Governor. I think that will push turnout for the midterms.
Plus, people now know Menendez is a crook and he has that hanging around his neck, along with that underage girl thing.
I also agree that the #walkaway movement is really taking the country by storm, along with Candace Owens and Turning Point USA. I'm praying they turn out in droves and I hope Trump comes to NJ and does a rally. NJ hasn't voted for a GOP Senator for decades.
The race right now is a statistical tie. Only 4 point difference.
It’s not insurmountable....and it’s one to watch!
