Yep, it's true.  Here is the Fox News Statement making those allegations:

"As many of our viewers know, FOX News is hosting a sanctioned debate in Des Moines, Iowa on Thursday night, three days before the first votes of the 2016 election are cast in the Iowa Caucus. Donald Trump is refusing to debate seven of his fellow presidential candidates on stage that night, which is near unprecedented. We’re not sure how Iowans are going to feel about him walking away from them at the last minute, but it should be clear to the American public by now that this is rooted in one thing – Megyn Kelly, whom he has viciously attacked since August and has now spent four days demanding be removed from the debate stage.

Capitulating to politicians’ ultimatums about a debate moderator violates all journalistic standards, as do threats, including the one leveled by Trump’s campaign manager Corey Lewandowski toward Megyn Kelly. In a call on Saturday with a Fox News executive, Lewandowski stated that Megyn had a “rough couple of days after that last debate” and he “would hate to have her go through that again.” Lewandowski was warned not to level any more threats, but he continued to do so. We can’t give in to terrorizations toward any of our employees. Trump is still welcome at Thursday night’s debate and will be treated fairly, just as he has been during his 132 appearances on FOX News & FOX Business, but he can’t dictate the moderators or the questions."

Apparently, as of now, Trump will not take calls from Roger Ailes, and only wishes to deal with Rupert Murdock.

You can see that here:  http://bit.ly/1nxN6cR

This BS just doesn't end.  The news is flooded with stories about this.

In the past Trump had the following to say concerning Michele Bachmann when she would not appear for a debate:

When Rand Paul decided not to appear, many thought it was a smart and brave thing for him to do.  However, Rand Paul's situation was far different, and I do not think he, nor his people, threatened any individual in the process.

Let the drama continue...

This reminds me of when Obama was threatening news reporters and journalists like James Rosen from Fox. Also makes me think it may have been him threatening Mark Levin too, even though Mark said he didn't "think" is was Trump! Mark put out a reward for information leading to which campaign threatened him. This is unbelievable. What a circus this man has become. This isn't a reality show! This election is for the very survival of this country! I'm so sick of Trump and his intimidation tactics. We have had that for 7 LONG YEARS already!

Hi Robin,

Most people will read what you wrote, and think or state the obvious which is that these things are unrelated and extremely dissimilar.  That is true.  However, it becomes a little different when you think about why Obama did what he did.  Two reasons:  Because he wanted to, and he could.  Why he wanted to comes down to a variety of reasons.  He sees the constitution as little more than an impediment.  His narcissism places him above his role, and beyond his "trappings", and he didn't like what Rosen was saying and/or doing.

How does any of that relate to Trump?  Well, Trump is equally, if not more so, narcissistic.  If Trump becomes the president, how he views himself in relation to his role as defined by the constitution along with the limits therein, whether he places respect for those things above himself, and whether he is prone to treat those that disagree with him as his enemies would all decide if he would do some or more of the same kinds of things as Obama.  Trump displays Obama's tendencies in spades.  Trump will want to, and then he can.  People better consider that when deciding for whom they will vote.

Having considered all of that, I imagine people will then understand your comparison completely.  Seven years should have been more than enough.  Apparently not for a great many unfortunately.

Hiya Rahth,

You explained what I meant far better than I could!  Thank you for clarifying it so eloquently! ;)

What can I say!

Edifying response.  Thank you.

Just as Trump has the right to debate, he also has the right not to debate.  Especially if he feels the Fox moderator Ms. Megyn Kelly will make this a personal gotcha argument scene.  Megyn isn't really a moderator, she's an agitator and an instigator.  I think Trump sees that in her.  From what I understand Fox and Google will putting a Muslim in a position to either ask questions or to insult any and all candidates who aren't afraid to speak the truth about Islam. (True candidate colors will show when she starts asking questions.)  The entire debate is set up to be a battle of wills between Fox's Megyn Kelly and Trump.  As the front runner, Donald has chosen to opt out of may well turn into a fracas anyway.  Why subject himself to that?  He's not running out on Iowans, he's leaving Fox and their darling sitting in their own dirt.  Megyn Kelly lost all credibility with me last night when she and that Liberal moron Michael Moore couldn't stop fawning over each other.  That entire segment made me sick.  Megyn Kelly spent her entire show fishing for compliments and looking for support.  What the management at Fox does is certainly their business, but without Trump on the dais, I wouldn't be surprised the ratings for this debate end up in the cellar, if not lower.  I could be wrong, I've been wrong before.  Cruz is pretty much my candidate, so I'll listen in for sure.  But I seriously doubt if Trump supporters will number high in the audience.

Trump announces his pull out from the debate because FOX won't replace Kelly for the debate.  On the same day, Michael Moore is a guest on Kelly's program after avoiding FOX for YEARS.  Coincidence?

I (and my wife) had a different take as we watched the Moore/Kelly exchange.  He definitely tried to get her to make a remark about the debate and current events surrounding it.  He tried to get her to say anything that can be twisted and used by Trump and his campaign.  However, her lawyer training came through and she said NOTHING about Trump and the debate.  Her push back was to steer Moore to his own "accomplishments" and allow him to plead the case that he loves America.

Quite frankly, I find the timing of Moore's appearance on FOX and especially with Kelly, on the day Trump pulled out, an amazing coincidence.

Hello Jerome,

I am no fan of Trump.  Having said that, I thought Fox tried to do a hatchet job on him the first time with those first three questions.  Whether Trump attends the debate or not is of little consequence to me.  I thought the intimidation tactics were noteworthy though.  I thought Fox handled their response to Trump stating he would pull out of the debate poorly.  We get very little news from news.  It's more like a giant cast of characters in some play gossiping about what the other characters said.  It's also like high school with cliques.  It's been that way for a very long time.  Our world has become but a play where our way of life hangs in the balance.

As "We the People" sit in the audience, after having to pay to get in, to watch that play unfold, yelling our heads off as they take our money and laugh at us all! And, we don't even get any popcorn!

or soda!

LOL JB!

I do not quite get it...what were the threats?  That Megyn would have it rough again because Trump would diss her?  And Lewandowski kept making threats after that...repeating the same thing or other threats?
