If You Let Government Parent, Don’t Be Surprised When It Claims Your Kids

For decades, public schools have encroached on some basic parental responsibilities — from feeding kids to health care to helping with homework. Is it any wonder school officials view themselves as the leading authorities on your children?

Consider that, today, a huge number of kids are dropped off at schools before the classes even begin, as early as 6:30 a.m. Kids are watched and fed a simple breakfast. This program, known as “before care,” allows parents to head to work early, which may be necessary for parents who work an early shift. Yet it’s also used by parents who want an early start to the day and a hassle- and kid-free morning.

Many parents also seem happy to let schools feed their kids. The school lunch program, originally designed to help low-income families, is now feeding any child, regardless of need.

[…]

Working late? No sweat! Like the “before care” program, most schools now offer “after care” programs so that parents can work late. Participating students are typically assisted with their homework and fed. Not having to do homework with your kid sounds nice, but it also robs parents of knowing what is being taught and how their kid is doing with his or her schoolwork.

Students are even able to seek medical treatment without their parents’ consent.

[…]

As for discipline, parents rarely have a place at the table. While schools used to be willing to contact parents, share information, and work as partners in setting kids on a better path, today, restorative justice programs cut out parents (and law enforcement), and reduce discipline to a performative joke.

If parents want to be respected by school officials, they need to stop ceding parenting basics to others. By placing these duties in the hands of teachers and school officials, parents have weakened their case that they are the primary caregivers for their children. I’m glad parents are fighting for their rights, but they should never have given up so much authority over their children’s upbringing in the first place.

We've been sleeping at the wheel, JG.

When the government makes things 'easy' for us...it ain't good.

That’s for sure, Jodi!  I guided my kids away from the rabid teachings on global warming and ‘Republicans want everyone to starve’ but I never did a deep dive into what exactly they were teaching.  Silly me, I thought there was some balance because an English teacher required some Ayn Rand books. I now know it was only like 2% of the teachers leaned conservative.  The rest of them were indoctrinating the kids. It has ramped up significantly since my first in the eighties, to my youngest, a 2020 graduate (now in the Army)

Solutions start local - school board!

Wow...Army.  You did good!!

This is exactly right JG. Any time the government comes to help, there is an ulterior motive. Children are our future and government is doing all it can to destroy that future for our children and grandchildren.

And while I was searching 'communism children', this popped up.

Communism for Kids Paperback

Communism, capitalism, work, crisis, and the market, described in simple storybook terms and illustrated by drawings of adorable little revolutionaries.

Once upon a time, people yearned to be free of the misery of capitalism. How could their dreams come true? This little book proposes a different kind of communism, one that is true to its ideals and free from authoritarianism. Offering relief for many who have been numbed by Marxist exegesis and given headaches by the earnest pompousness of socialist politics, it presents political theory in the simple terms of a children's story, accompanied by illustrations of lovable little revolutionaries experiencing their political awakening.

It all unfolds like a story, with jealous princesses, fancy swords, displaced peasants, mean bosses, and tired workers–not to mention a Ouija board, a talking chair, and a big pot called “the state.” Before they know it, readers are learning about the economic history of feudalism, class struggles in capitalism, different ideas of communism, and more. Finally, competition between two factories leads to a crisis that the workers attempt to solve in six different ways (most of them borrowed from historic models of communist or socialist change). Each attempt fails, since true communism is not so easy after all. But it's also not that hard. At last, the people take everything into their own hands and decide for themselves how to continue. Happy ending? Only the future will tell. With an epilogue that goes deeper into the theoretical issues behind the story, this book is perfect for all ages and all who desire a better world.

Sold on Amazon.  There's way more.

This should be our true focus, kwik...our babies.

Jodi, I have been screaming this for years now. In the old, nameless forum we came from, one of the members posted they had overheard 2 teenagers in a store discussing how wonderful socialism is. This was around 2009 or 2010. I had a grandson in jr high at the time, so I ask him if he knew anything about socialism, and he said of course, and that socialism is great. I ask him where he heard this, and he said in school.

I remember being shocked and appalled that our small town school was teaching something so destructive to our country, as a better way of life!

I have learned so much more about the indoctrination of our children and grandchildren since that time. I tried to share what I learned with other parents and grandparents, but many of them dismissed what I tried to share about indoctrination in our schools.

I have at least one grandaughter that is full blown leftist and social justice warrior. She ridicules people of faith as hateful bigots, and that includes me. She became like that in high school.

Here we are 10 years down the road, and now parents are beginning to see the damage being done to their children and grandchildren. I hope, regardless of the threats from a lawless DOJ and FBI, that those parents continue to stand up, and more people join them in the fight for the freedom of their children.

Yep.  Now's not the time to ease up.

Here's a very simple explanation for the indoctrination from Christoper Rufo (link):

"What they are trying to do is fill kids with a sense of hatred and despair about their own country. It makes them more pliable for their own political goals and then redirect them to actually destroying the country in the present because they feel guilty and ashamed of what happened in the past."
