AN OPEN LETTER TO THE PRESIDENT IN REPONSE TO HIS RECENT SPEECH

With all due respect, the past week has, indeed, given us all a perspective. We are all thinking about what we have been through the last couple of months. Let me assure you that it has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH YOU! You are ONE MAN who lives in a big, white house. You are just a very ordinary man who happens to have convinced just enough people to put you in an Office that this Country deeply respects – the Presidency. You are an obstacle to getting our fiscal house in order, to bringing comfort to the mourning, to bringing help to those devastated by Hurricane Sandy, and to protecting our senior citizens!

Your prepared speeches are often excellent. But then one thinks when you speak as “a father of two young girls” instead of a President and we are yanked back to reality. This fine father uses Sandra Fluke as the Standard Bearer for young women. What a great example for your young daughters. I prayed my young granddaughters did not hear your speeches on the news. For the first time I want the young people of this country to avoid listening to the news! Or does a President have different values for the country than he has for his family? Yes, the nation mourns for Sandy Hook. A President sets the moral tone for the nation. You use it as a political tool. Shame on you!

I listen ad nauseum to pleas for help for the victims of Hurricane Sandy. I heard your promise for cutting red tape. The victims of Sandy were demanding action two weeks after the event. Victims of Katrina were in the same condition 4 months after Katrina and I did not hear you on the floor of the Senate demanding immediate action!  I felt deeply sorry for those who lost their homes and wished I had some money to help. But then I heard a woman complaining that this was the third time in two years she had to rebuild her home because of flooding in New Jersey. Now you want to take my hard earned tax dollars to help rebuilt a fourth time! NOW THAT IS AN UNDESERVED ENTITLEMENT! (She was whining the government had not yet gotten any money to her!) I am so sorry, Sir, but I am retired and had to borrow money to have a storm damaged roof replaced. It never occurred to me to beg the government to bail me out.

Then there is that pesky fiscal cliff that led to your above statement. Being a constitutional lawyer and sworn to uphold it, I am sure that you realize we (as in the Country) have a real problem. Now I realize it has been a while since you studied that wonderful document and that you have publicly stated that you do not really believe in our Constitution, but you DID swear to uphold it. Being a Constitutional lawyer you know that the BAA of 1921 and the following laws are unconstitutional and have, in fact, contributed to this fiscal mess. You think you can intimidate us by cutting defense spending. May I remind you that is one of the PRIMARY powers of the FEDERAL government – defense of our land!? And I do mean OUR LAND, not every other country in the world! Your second threat is to cut “entitlements.”  The first thing you mention is Social Security – another unconstitutional program! It is interesting that if you look the word up in a current dictionary it refers to a government benefit or program. Strange, but when it was enacted and while I was growing up is meant: deserved, due, earned, eligible or having the right! That, Sir, is exactly what SS is – money due us because the government stole it from us! It belongs to us – NOT YOU! WE ARE ENTITLED TO IT!

The government is NOT “entitled” to give our money to bailout private industries, to support people for 92 weeks unemployment benefits, to study turtles crossing the road, finance the President’s supporters’ special interests, pay people to study a way around the Second Amendment, waste our money on “green energy” projects that proved useless in the 1970’s, fly around the country campaigning AFTER you have won the election, etc. The list is far too long to list them all.

So, as decent American citizens do, we WILL reclaim our Country – not the way we have seen other countries attempt – with riots, attacks, and vandalizing. We will do what decent Americans do; we WILL reclaim our Country using the RULE OF LAW (Constitutional law!)

So, Mr. President, the Country has, indeed, put things in perspective. We urge you to join us.
